What IS a deal breaker to me, however, is that the game is too shallow and too God damned boring.

#1948837 I guess that's why it doesn't have a subscription.

Right now, the only thing that still drives me back to the game is WvW. However, my matchup is heavily one sided, and the only thing I end up doing when I get in EB at night is spawn camp. It gets old, fast. I guess I'll log in again when WvW resets. I think it makes sense, GW2 is more akin to LoL or Diablo III in the sense that you play it now and then, and since there's no subscription you don't feel it a waste.
Still, it was a good 300+ hour experience, in par with other RPGs like old Final Fantasies or Dragon Age. But I definitely don't see this game being an "old style MMO" where you stuck to it for months, even years.

Ok, so for those of you who didn't immediately start typing "lol wow sucks", read on.
I am a level 56 Engineer, and I was putting together a Twilight Arbor group. We had 2 warriors, a guardian and a ranger. (and me) We did.... "ok" ran into some trouble along the way, the second boss was absolutely ridiculous, he would spam summon 5 spiders that would poison you, the only way we beat is was by having me kite everything around in circles while the rest of the group kept rezzing and zerging the boss. (who also had a 5 second aoe fear at melee range)
Then we ran into worse trouble on the final boss. It starts with Faolin summoning ghost versions of Destinies Edge. She would stand on a balcony with a shield around her.
We still have no idea how to beat the boss. We would kite logan away from the group and kill him, but after 20 seconds, Faolin would rez him back. I assumed we had to kill them all at the same time, but we couldn't see that being possible. Between Logan and Rytlocks constant knock backs and Eir's absolutly broken aoe (she would use multi shot that hits for 3k with each arrow) It seemed impossible.
This is no isolated case either. AC was pretty hard too, with the ridiculous damage output. WIthout a tank to hold aggro or a healer to heal, it seems a futile task. 20 second cooldown heals that give you 1/4 your hp, 2 dodges every 20 seconds and regen being absolutely useless makes these fights ridiculous.
Obviously not much thought went into these dungeons. There are no clever tactics involved in the fights, its either brokenly difficult, or a zerg fest.
Also, this game was not designed for 5 group mob fights. Even us all being friends, we don't have the elite coordination required to take down more than 4-5 silver mobs at once. Focusing one doesn't work, because the other three or four absolutely trash us. None of the cc we have last long enough to make a difference. Not to mention dungeons are garbage for melee. Our warriors spent 90% of their time with longbows, because melee range usually meant death.
Look, the game is great. The world is great, and the personal story is great.
Dungeons? Poorly tuned death traps. I wasted 3 hours today trying to clear Twilight Arbor. You know how much exp you get from the monsters in there? almost none. I could have leveled 3-4 times in the time it took me to not clear the dungeon.
Fair warning my fellow Tyrians, dungeons are pretty broken right now.
#1692731 I think WvWvW is poorly designed.

So by reducing the importance of nodes (keeps) and increasing the importance of Orb control, you've basically shrunk the map and created a focal point for massive zergs and lag.
Furthermore you've created even less of a chance for a comeback because everything would be dependent on the location of the Orb. Once the location is found, everyone and their pet gets funneled to that spot. Again it becomes a zerg pond of lag.
Spreading things out helps give teams a chance to splinter a powerful server up, because there's only so many nodes the can protect, There's a much greater chance to rally when the leading server is forced to go in multiple directions to defend it's keeps.

If you don't want to explore, you can do personal story or gather stuff or do PvP. If you do not want to do Personal story, you can explore or gather stuff. If you do not want to gather stuff, you can... Well, some of the other things.
If you do not want to do any of those things... Why play the game if you do not want to play the game?
