Still a work in progress. Something just doesn't fit right and I can't put my finger on it. I need another stress test to sort this out before release. I think it's the hair color. It needs to be lighter, or darker, or.... something.
Hey, I remember posting this! My ele looks kinda similar to that old BWE character, same hair anyway.

Probability is funny, you have a 20% chance to get an exotic out of your next 4 (level 80) rares regardless of how many exotics you've gotten in the past. After throwing hundreds of rares in myself, the best advice I can give you is don't expect anything out of it. Just make it part of your routine to save up mats for a batch of rares, then throw them in and start over. Think of it like doing the daily achievements. If you expect to get a precursor after some number of rares, you'll just get disappointed if that number goes by with no precursor.
My other advice is this: Assuming the currently accepted 0.3% chance to get a precursor by combining 4 level 80 rares, you'll have to make approximately 230 attempts (about 700 rares assuming you keep throwing the products back in) to reach a 50% probability of getting your precursor. If you're not willing to throw over 1k rares in there without seeing a precursor (which isn't terribly uncommon) then just save the gold up.
