Must been something else I have seen then, in that movie the combat looked clunky and like 2 wooden puppets were playing.
Are there any new combat movies around, the first ones did not impress me in the slightest :(

Anet is slowly killing off alts and I don’t understand why… Alts are one of the main driving forces to keep players around, yet every decision kills them a little more.

1. It started with fractals… oh fractals are character bound so you can progress on each characters… (i.e. screw you alts, you have to run 50 fractal runs just to get back to the skill level you are at)
2. Next was laurels… Oh sorry this reward is account bound so your alts will take forever to gear up…
3. Then came daily bonus chests… what you only made alts to get bonus rares? L2GW2!!!
4. Next came WvW ranks… oh you want to play an alt in WvW, sucks to be you, all your bonuses are gone now (i.e. “progression”)
5. After that came time gated crystals… oh you can only get one of these magical crystals a day, good luck ever building gear with these crystals on your alts… that will take 100 years…
6. Here we arrive today with dungeon rewards being switched to account bound for gold AND tokens.
Every time one of these things happened the blind Anet defenders came and swarmed shouting their typical chant… "what you only play alts for X, Learn 2 GW2 and play the “right” way!"
Well guess what… there is no longer a single area of the PvE game left that alts aren’t penalized for, guess it’s time for a new excuse.

I'm confused...

1. Yes, fractal progression is character bound but you can throw a character that's at level 1 fotm into a level 20+fotm as long as they have infused items. Considering ascended items are account bound (soulbound on use) it wouldn't be that hard to organize an alt to have an infused set ready.

2. I don't understand the logic here... not only are laurels only used as an alternative to gear (rares/ascended), shouldn't them being account bound make it easier to gear your alts? I know it's made it easier for me.

3. If that's the only reason you made alts then I don't think you were big on alts anyway...

4. Okay, granted this is pretty shitty considering I've heard people complain about how long it takes them (even though I don't WvW myself), but shouldn't this actually open up opportunities for alts? Each alt can specialize in something important and you can swap characters depending on what you want to do/ need for your group at that time. Although that could be annoying if you don't have commander on your alts.

5. People had weeks to stock up on those crystals. I mined over 500 of them during the living story and you get 5 crystals per day per account (with a rare chance at charged crystals from the node). Is that really so bad? If you don't want to take the time then couldn't you just buy some off the tp? Edit: And if I remember correctly Anet has said that the bazaar will be coming back, which should mean another chance to go crystal crazy in the future.

6. Again, is that really so bad? If the only reason you made alts was to be able to run things multiple times a day to get more rewards, I think you should ask yourself if you actually enjoy alts.

Me, I love my alts. I have one character of each profession and I almost have my fifth 80. I have two 80s with multiple exotic sets of gear and the other two each have an exotic set a piece. Even then I'm still wanting to buy more character slots. I love alts. I don't care that they don't earn me extra rewards, I just like playing them.

Yet again, if you only see alts as an added source of income then I don't believe you like them anyway. I mean, if it's that big of a deal you can still run world events and ori on them. Maybe you don't get the guaranteed rare from the bonus chest for the multiple times you do it, but you still get the regular chest.

True things that you all know but never acknowledge:

1) Other people play the game, A-net does not have a duty to cater specifically to your needs.

2) Some of those people (See: The majority) are hurt by the negative impact on the economy that reward flooding creates.

3) If you can get a potentially unlimited number of laurels (or tokens, or whatever) per day (limited only by the number of characters you have) then the value of the things that can be bought by laurels decreases. This includes T6 materials, armour, rings, amulets, miniatures and so on.

4) Those players who have jobs and such can't play 24 hours a day.

5) This means that when they acquire in game items their value has been hugely diminished by those players who can play 24 hours a day.

6) Things start to suck for them, they then leave. True things about them leaving include: They have disposable income and are the ones sustaining the game, they are the ones you want to sell your items to, and they make up the majority of the player base.

7) As a side note Fractals are obviously locked that way because your 1000 hours of Warrior play doesn't translate to 1000 hours of Ranger play, I seriously do not fancy getting a party together only to find that someone in the party for a lvl 48 fractal has just rolled their Ranger and has no clue what to do with it.

You all know full well why the game is designed this way, I can only assume you are being intentionally difficult and actively trying not to see the point; if you didn't know then my apologies and I hope the above helps.

Good, now I can finally cross the game off my list. This will probably end up being a cash shop game, a lot of the mechanics seem to make it look like it will be an ez transition to f2p.

This and ffxiv are the only games in which I pretty much just stop caring about them halfway through it.

This is just me voicing my opinion after reading so many posts about people leaving and lower player number etc. To be honest i really love Guild Wars 2, I'm ex GW1 and the way GW2 plays is perfect for me, I played all Beta's and was on 24/7 for the 1st few months. I dropped back to a few hours a day with odd days i'm to busy to get on. I enjoy how each class plays and have never been the sort of gamer to rush to end game content. The fact you can enjoy any area on any level toon is great and I'll be leveling my toons until all 7 are level 80. I can see the major content that would be in the works being an ex gw1'r and knowing how much more there is to tyria so in saying that. I'm not stressing over lack of content and i'm just taking the time to enjoy it. I have a level 80 guard, 30 warrior, 30 elementalist, 12 theif, 5 ranger, 3 engineer and a level 2 necro. I'm going to enjoy leveling away on these despite those who crave end game leaving i'll be here long term and loving it, keep up the epic work Anet. I'm a player indefinate! :)

Ps' the multi guild option SUX!!!! we need gw1 style guilding!!!!

I really don't envy the life of a game developer, it must be very disheartening to be constantly moaned at by your player-base. How much is enough for the MMO gamer? Will you or I ever be pleased?
"oh this is too easy"
"this is too hard"
"this is too grindy"
"there isnt enough grind, nothing to do"
"too much to do"
"too random"
  "ugh, such boring loot we all have the same"
  and it just keeps going.

The fact is they cant please everyone, no one can. Do we have to jump on every decision? Every piece of content? It will never be perfect for us all.
Look at the clock-tower, the dev actually apologized for making it too hard? Are we all that pathetic that any challenge in a video game is cried about so much, we need a sorry note from the creator?

Most of us gamers now are 18-30, we grew up with games...cant we all just grow up in general? Sure post constructive posts about issues, but leave the crying in the cot with the bottle.

im a level 29 now, and i feel like i havent even begun to scratch the surface of the surface.  i suggest you go through all the areas and just do hearts, so much to do i nthe game, its overwhelming.

I have the opposite problem.  My progress towards my legendaries has been all but halted due to my spending on alts.  I find that each play through is turning out so different that I keep bouncing around and I feel like I'm not getting the same amount "done" as I was when I was just playing my main.

I AM however, having problems finishing alts due to leveling other Alts.......  MY necro is stuck as 61 now cause I've been leveling my mes.

game was never bad in the first place. It might have not suited your tastes but it's not a bad game.

1. I haven't tried that but earlier I asked a friend and he mentioned a bug. He was also stuck at some part in the quest.
2. Totally have to disagree here. A friend and I made a party inviting people we didn't know. It was - of course since it's new - not only very easy to find players for our group but all were very patient exploring the different parts and finding out the mechanics to beat boss or to advance in general. Maybe I got lucky today with the groups since PuGs can be everything from really bad to great teams. But I really disagree with you when you talk about "regular grind". No grinding here at all in my oppinion.
3. Well I haven't seen any of those but I guess it's always a question of what taste a person has.

Guild.. run the dungeon with your Guild in Guild Wars 2. No issues then!

And what we do is, as you find sets of dye, you unlock them for your account. So as you unlock dyes for your account, your characters just have them available for them.

This was stated well before release that it was decided to change Dyes from account bound to character bound. In no way did ArenaNet promise account bound dyes and then surprised everyone with a punch to the face at launch. Fair warning was given.

If you seem to hate the game enough to pick on such a small thing, maybe you should look elsewhere, because you seem far too narrowminded to enjoy it here. Problems happen, things change, get over it.

If you actually want any backed up QQ behind this entire post, perhaps you should post the dates these quotes are from so people can spot the difference between a "Broken promise" and a change while the game was still in alpha stages.

1. Some things like Security I agree with. However, with others (like Guesting), if there's some sort of problem that isn't easily solved, then you can't hold off launch indefinatly until you've fixed it (since ANet get their funding from NCSoft, they probably had some pressure applied to launch ASAP and fix everything after). More than anything, I think they need more transparency if they're having issues with a particular thing. Sure, some people will bitch, but a lot of people would also appreciate the updates of info.

2. Things are subject to change. They told us this before launch, so I'd consider that fairly acceptable.

3. I think people think of the roles (support, control and damage) too rigidly. Say someone's gone down, and you knock the mobs away from them. Have you just Controlled the mobs, Supported the Downed player, or both? Hardly gospal, but that's my view on it.

4. This is more down to player attitude IMO. A game can only help so far with these issues, ande then it's down to the players to build the community. If you got a group of players that only look out for themselves, no amount of tools will help. Which, to be honest, is quite sad.

5. Not entirely sure what you were expecting, but since the overarching threat in the game is Zhaitan, logic dictates that all stories would end up there as well. However, I haven't played any alts yet, so I can't comment on this one, really.

6. If you do every path once a day, you'll get an entire set of armour and two weapon sets on 13 days. It was different before, sure, but they changed it. I'd hardly consider this a 'grind'.

7. It's only a treadmill if the stats keep going up, and we also don't know how easy these pieces will be to get.

8. Agree on this one, if all you're looking at is progress in aquiring Gold / Karma. I also agree that scaling needs to be harsher for lower level zones.

9. I didn't have this problem. I made myself and my friend gear and levelled up crafting without too much surplus (what surplus I did have I just used a basic salvage kit on and got some mats back)
