I used every weapon as I leveled. Using the same weapon all the time is really boring; especially with the limited skill system. A few favorites did stick out. I generally use Sword + Focus as solo, and Mace + Shield for groups. I occasionally bust out the Hammer, which is by far the most enjoyable and my "rainy day" weapon. I always have a Staff as my second set.
As for Scepter, I can't stand it. It's easily the most shallow and stale Guardian weapon. The only time I use it is for WvW. I'd agree that it feels weak, but it's not like the Guardian is supposed to have powerful ranged weaponry. I'd rather see them add some utility. As is the Scepter is just damage, and weak damage at that.

In Topic: Everyone else regret their main?

I didn't really have a main until now. I was planning on Guardian, but bum-rushing the personal story left me with a pretty big grind. I decided I'd give Ranger a shot as a main (my GW1 main) despite how hesitant I was with the changes. After getting him into his 40s, my fears had been realized; GW2 Ranger is very lackluster, boring, and overall a big disappointment. I switched back over to my Guardian, bit the bullet, and leveled enough to surpass my Ranger and reach my story again. I really regret getting sidetracked, since I'm sure my Guardian would have been 80 by now.
The only thing I regret currently is that I hate being an "all melee" class, especially as a main. Still, none of the other professions are as interesting. I do have one of each, so I'll be playing all of them over time. Maybe one of them will just click with me, but until then, nothing will sway me from getting my Guardian to 80.

Damage is mediocre at best, and I haven't seen it do anything besides damage. It doesn't last long enough to make any real impact, and the recharge is pretty long. The AoE wolf missile attack has Orion syndrome: by the time it pulls it off, the enemies are dead already. Honestly, I wouldn't take it if it was a utility skill. I'm glad it's "free," because it would be one hell of a waste of 10 or 30 skill points. Guardian does have a trait that makes elites last longer. I don't know whether it makes much of a difference though.

2H Polearm and/or 1H melee spear would be fantastic. Bow would be a stretch, but...I just want it; especially after picking up some random Ice Bow. Virtues are a lot more useful when fighting with the backline imo.
