So the issue has apparently arisen and might be an interesting discussion.

How do you feel about spying on other guilds in game?

Points for consideration:

1) Spying in WvW

2) Spying in sPvP

3) Spying in PVE


For my part I say in WvW between realms all is fair game.

For tournament sPvP I'd say that since we treat it as a sport it should not be tolerated and treated as bad form.

For PvE I'd say who cares?

In some cases I question if there is any benefit to "spying" at all anyway.

My opinions are still pretty undefined on this, the above are simply my preliminary thoughts. What are yours?

So for the folks forming up alliances on your servers how are you planning to communicate across guilds in game?

My experience in other games has been to simply make a custom channel folks can join. We used that channel more than any other to keep up with all of our various associates in game, find people to do stuff, etc.

As far as I can tell from poking around on the web ArenaNet still hasn't allowed for custom chat channels for some reason. So I'd like to hear what ya'll are going to do to get around this limitation.

UPDATE 8/23/12

Emblem builder is out of date. We have ambition to update it, but we are going to wait until we see what ArenaNet does with their extended experience. While we wait I'll be pecking at the emblems. Once we are fairly sure ArenaNet isn't going to put out a builder of their own we'll put some serious work on it.

Neither Tarral nor myself are keen to do all that work only to have ArenaNet whip their own version out on us. The original project was born out of the missus being on summer break with not much to do, and waiting for the game to release. But now we have GW2 to play and she is back on the job. It was a fun project and we'll be happy to keep it going if ArenaNet doesn't do one outside of the game. But for now it is on hold.

Of course if any of the fine folks at ArenaNet wants to drop either of us a line and give us an indication one way or another that will speed up (or end) our timetable. We are both quite discreet. You can trust us honest!
