Yh, the h61 mobos didnt sound that great when i looked into them. I am going to go for a MSI P67A G55. Looked into the one you used Smellyead, but it only has 3 audio outputs at the back and the z68s were slightly expensive. This is my final plan unless you guys spot a major flaw (lol).

For the hdd disk ill just see whatever is available in the shop at a decent price, will go for a 500gb only though.

and of course a case/OS/etc.

Hmm, i was really stuck between an intel or AMD build myself, but you've now convinced me that i should go with an i5-2500k. My next question is how big is the difference in terms of performance between the h6 and p6 mobo (that was suggested in the fourth build)?? I could just go for your 4th build as i want my pc to last a while and have future customization options. The price increase is also only about 50 euro. What do you guys think?

Also do you guys have any idea how long it would take for the prices of hdds to drop again?? would it make much of difference in terms of speed in 16mb cache and 32 or even 64?

I'm planning on building your 'Solid Mid Range PC' as my first self-built pc, but I've had to make some very minor adjustments (mainly due to availability of the parts in the local shops), and i have a couple questions.  Here's my plan as of now:

Phenom II X6 (1055T) AM3 cpu

Sapphire HD 6870 1 GB gpu

Corsair Vengeance PC1600 C9 CMZ 8GB ram (did not have a lot of choices here)

Vantec ION2 520W psu (it was nice and cheap and read a couple of good reviews) Also how are Gigabyte psus? 500W sufficient right?

MSI 880GMA-E45 mobo. This was the part i had most trouble with. Would it work fine or are there better options to consider? (if they're available) this one is also M-ATX so might have more choice with case.

For a case would a M-ATX allow enough airflow and what not? or should i go one size up?

Finally could someone advise me on a price to expect for a 7200 rpm hdd? they seem to be quite steep.

Oh and one more thing, should i also wait for these new HD 7000 series for gpu? or is that not worth it in this price range?
