#2124086 The new pact Avenger skin is atrocious

Posted Bottoms_Up on 20 December 2012 - 11:23 AM

The old skin has a real cruddy low-resolution texture. My guess is that either a non-finalised model got through accidentally, which they have now replaced with the final one, or they ran out of time to finish all models before release and are now going through doing them up.

The new one just looks too clean - they could make it look more sword like with a bit of grunge on it.

The new skin looks soft. Almost cuddly. I wonder if it squeaks when you hit someone with it.

#1895350 What do GW1 players think of GW2?

Posted Harrison Gold on 07 September 2012 - 03:27 AM

I like it, though I do miss some of the aspects like the superior story missions. I love all the references to the first game, I really think GW1 players will have a completely different experience than the general MMO players.

#1874878 Worst Launch Experience I've Ever Had

Posted AsuranCanuck on 04 September 2012 - 12:59 AM

You've been able to play 40-50 hours in a week.. I'd call that a pretty successful launch.

Trading Post has been up 50% of the time for me in the last 3 days. When it is up, it works pretty well. Yeah it sucks that it was down the first 5 or so, but oh well, players found other ways to trade and got by just fine. Be happy that we have a GAME WIDE Trading post, not one locked to specific servers, or to even specific Auction Houses! (Vanilla WoW anyone?)

One quest for you that is stopping progression for your storyline is bugged, that's to be expected. Read their update from today, they're fixing those. Expect to find lots of bugs in the game for the first couple months, that's how they go

Account hacking? Your fault, that can happen anywhere to any game. Don't use the same password/user combination. Internet smarts 101.

It's giving me the generic no event or not eligible for event.

I really hope you guys don't start arguing realism in a fantasy video game.

At the moment I'm more arguing against juvenile "OMG SKIRTS R 4 GURLS" attitudes.

*gag* *retch* on female i hope..

my argument is not female gear, looks fine. It's the dudes..

I guess the guy who wore this was totally a wuss, right?

How about walking up to this guy and calling him a "nancy boy"? (I wouldn't recommend it.)

I think you better rethink your perspective on unbifurcated garments. Skirts were standard on medieval armor, as it was the best known way of protecting the upper legs while still allowing freedom of movement. Also, they are and have been part of traditional male attire in many parts of the world. Sorry to have to shed light on your narrow-minded gender role notions.

That first picture right there!!!!

Disgusting... I do not want my character to look like a spacesuit wearing power-ranger...
If you compare the details between the first armor (gw2) with the second picture (gw1), they are the same armor, but there is so much more detail in gw1 in the armor compared to the gw2 one... It just seems like they did a lazy job on armor designs in gw2.

that's actually because of the coloring, nothing to do with the actual detail on the armor.

Well I guess you consider that to be a problem where as I don't.  As long as I have some loot progression that I can work toward and finish up for each character I'll be happy.  I think we should keep in mind that not all the armor is made for everyone.  All the designs are pretty different from each other, which means the devs are trying to cover as many bases as possible.

also OMFG have you seen the lvl 80 racial human medium armor? or the lvl 80 heavy charr armor or the lvl 80 asura light armor!!!
These three are some of the best looking armor sets that I've ever seen.

what people think look good, mostly subjective
art style also mostly subjective
take what you can get I say ;)

As a final note don't forget dyes, I think they make a lot of difference.  What we've seen now is w/ base or neutral dyes for all slots, I really think that customizing that will definitely help with the look.

But for example.... OMFG have you guys seen the Profane medium armor ???? OMFG it is so ugly.....

Well, for the record it is a light armor skin.... but yeah it disgusts me as well. The original one felt much better T_T

I thought armor looked fantastic. I found karma armor that was great and I found drops that I thought looked great too.

At least from the stuff I saw, it's simple yet elegant in most cases.

Well, I respect the fact that you can voice your opinion, but I flat out disagree. The gear looks so amazing it's making it hard to pick a main.

It's not useless for P/P because you can still use it to get away from your main target by switching to another in range.

Not saying it's a good ability, just mentioning that point.

#1791022 What's with all the dresses on armor!?

Posted Treble on 22 August 2012 - 10:59 PM

Kristen Perry has an obsession with butt capes.

The entire argument isn't whether or not there are too many dresses. It's whether or not there are too many butt capes. The resounding answer is YES, there are way too many butt capes.

It's looking like we'll all be forced to wear tents around our backsides throughout the majority of the game.

Walker, Texas Ranger? :3
I was gonna make him an exception, but he usually wears cowboy hats and tight jeans. Plus it's Chuck Norris. He can wear whatever the hell he wants.

Kristen Perry appears to be unable to create armor without buttcapes.

Yeah, it's really really unfortunate. I hated that they forced Rangers to wear dress-looking coats in GW1. Now they are trolling every one of the medium armor classes...

It's not just the medium armor. Have you even looked at light armor? The grand majority of it have buttcapes too. And almost all heavy sets have skirts.
