You must be one of those super straight guys, that likes to look at a male characters arse for hours, and thinks if someone rather wants to look at female buttocks he's somewhat insecure in his sexual orientation.

And you must be one of those gamers that stand in AoE while staring at your character's arse.

40% of characters may be females, but I'll bet my security blanket that less than 5% are actually played by females.

#1897895 Dungeons are not hard, theyre just Wrong

PUG groups can't work together which makes team work and guilds better because you gotta play with people know their playstyle.

That is very true.  But story mode was played as sort of a pug friendly mode.  People *At level* are having problems with various dungeons.  You can't look at CM and justly say "it is harder than AC!", because it isn't.  AC is much tougher yet the first you go to.  CM should be the *first* dungeon experience you get.  Then maybe AC since players understand class elites a little better and have time to buy a non horrible elite racial ability (something I see with many asura new 30's, i'm sorry your golem just sucks).

Maybe it is you who is just whining once again, it is fun for me every dungeon I've been in.
L2P

I don't recall him asking if you had fun.  That isn't the point.

#1863775 Whats the point of progressing in this game?

If you are being equalised with the area or other players wherever you go?

Im leveling, gaining new items etc. and i feel as weak as i was before... Whats rewarding in this game? Is this still mmorpg? I dont feel like playing mmorpg in gw2 :/ Its definitely mmo, but hardly rpg cause i dont feel ANY character development... Maybe mmo-exploration is the genre gw2 belongs to?

I cant enjoy the story cause im to old for this kind of story telling gw2 offers so its stripped down to running around unlocking "i was there" points with tedious repeating weak combat that never gives you feeling of being powerfull even tho you theoretically got better weapons, armors and level. On top of that you dont even get new abilities, cause you are stuck with 5 weapon skills.

So let me ask again:

What is the point of playing the mmorpg where you dont gain strenght trough progress? Isnt it reduced to a tedious slow walking around participating in same looking combat over and over again just to unlock points and gather materials to create items which are useless cause your stats are being equalised with area?

Then you go to pvp and you are again being equalised with everyone else. Where is the RPG element in gw2?

Guild Wars 2 contains character development. Your character increases in level, you gain new gear, you unlock new abilities, you place points into traits for further stats and perks, and you character developmental through his/her personal story with various choices at different times.

Furthermore, being level 80 as I am when I return to a low level area I feel quite powerful as I 2-4 shot monsters compared to players of that actual level. Additionally, one of the perks of Guild Wars 2 is a actual storyline that progresses their world's lore on a higher level compared to other mmorpgs. To be "unimpressed" or "too old" for a good storyline is a personal problem, but doesn't justify in a larger scale a game being unable to progress in because again the story alone is it's own form of character progression.

Indeed it is. So you still require a reward to play the game. You require the fun. In standard mmorpg WORKING model you get fun when you get stronger and feel stronger playing yoru character - its fun. What is fun if your character stays the same all the time? Cosmetic differences? How long can you repeat same thing over and over again if it doesnt evolve? Isnt it madness? Or you are so little-demanding from a computer game that you can have a blast playing tetris over and over again provided that its good looking and pieces have different textures?

How long can you repeat the same thing over and over? Why don't you ask the World of Warcraft players who reach max level and raid over and over hoping to one day get that one equipment upgrade, or ask the Diablo III players who farm the same zones over and over hoping for that one good random for gear upgrade or profit. Those game evolve in minor and I mean minor stat upgrades where as Guild Wars 2 evolves in cosmetic style and stat upgrade, so how does this game not evolve again? Every game has it's fair share of content that repeats the key here is actually enjoying it. Besides they a large array of content to accomplish and I won't go into detail, however, I will touch on sPvP and WvWvW. Similar to any game sPvP and WvWvW are technically never "repeating" content. Sure, the map a small pool of choices, but the key aspect here is that you are constantly being placed against various enemies of various skill ranges. With your logic why do people play World of Warcraft arena, League of Legends, Dota 2, Modern warfare 3, Battlefield 3? The content is the same over and over. You pick a map, you fight X enemy, you accomplish X task. Seems like you're just trying to strip Guild Wars 2 to the basic mechanic of PvP which is similar in a lot of games, which makes you seem like you have a "grasping at straws" argument going on.

In all honestly, Guild Wars 2 may just not be a game for you and that's fine, because to each their own.

#1750889 Why do so many people bash on WoW?

Posted Azragarn on 17 August 2012 - 06:07 AM

Speaking as a person that played from original beta until December last year, i don't bash wow as a game it is more that the concept has been done and in 7 years it has not really changed. It did with the 1st xpac but after that it was a grind for gear, run everything 50+times to maybe get an item you want then to have it made redundant soon after or a patch ot be released that made it purchasable.

This over time made alot of people start to hate blizzard and in-turn the game. This compile with their habit of making almost every boss have the same mechanics and then after a few weeks making them easier turned away the loyal players who played for a challenge.

Hope this helps you understand a little of the hate they are getting. (on top of this the game has had no major visual upgrade in 4 years so alots say it feels and looks old and flat)

#1750887 Why do so many people bash on WoW?

Posted Shamadamun on 17 August 2012 - 06:06 AM

Two big reasons come to mind.

For one, it seems MMO's are just as touchy as politics and religion and when you fully support one side, other's can get extremely defensive and put you down. I suppose it's because, like politics and religion, you spend so much time focusing on what you believe and what you do in that game that if someone challenges that, they are potentially challenging all your time and money spent on the game. There's no way in hell people will easily adjust to the idea of "I'm putting everything I have into an inferior game..." MMO's are touchy.

Secondly, I think alot of players (myself included) have played WoW from the very beginning, and the direction Blizzard took the game is the core opposite of what the game used to be about. For me, I get very spiteful and bitter when I think about WoW just because I knew what a magical and quality game it once was, and to see it in it's current state sickens me. It's like coming back to your childhood home that you loved so much only to see it torn to shreds, stains on the walls, and broken furniture everywhere.

#1708737 Buy char slots or 2nd account?

Posted MisterB on 10 August 2012 - 09:34 PM

One major disadvantage to multiple accounts is the cost of potential future expansions.

#1708723 Buy char slots or 2nd account?

Posted sahirah05 on 10 August 2012 - 09:31 PM

Well if you get a complete new game, you get 5 character wich would mean you get each character slot for around 12 bucks, wich is probly more expensive than a character slot from the gem store. Also with a whole new game you'd end up with 10 character slot with only 8 professions and don't forget that you can buy gem from ingame gold, meaning you can get all the slot you want just by playing the game.

#1733348 This game makes other MMOs laughable

Posted BloatedGuppy on 14 August 2012 - 08:41 PM

Awww lets not do this. I know everyone is excited and GW2 is fun and all, but let's not be THAT community. You know, the community that bags on all the other games because THEIR game is AWESOME. There are a lot of great MMOs out there.
