I recommend doing the other dungeos story mode just for the sake of unlocking explorable mode, but no, the story isnt that big of a deal.

Edit: This is coming from someone who did the same thing as you, and I still haven't done arah. Finally had a few people to do arah with and it was contested, im assuming because people were doing the halloween event. hopefully it will be better today.
