#2042427 GW2 longevity?

Posted Bloodtau on 25 October 2012 - 04:25 PM

If this game had a sub, it would be sinking faster than star wars did by now. The only reason people are playing it is because it is free.

#2041066 When did Guild Wars players turn in to such whiners?

The first thread that should be moved to the 'complaint corner' is this one.

I think I know where he's coming from. With GW2 you have farmable dungeons. Most of them take roughly 30 minutes or so to complete, so there really isn't a sense of progression or "epicness"

With WoW, you'd pop into your big group of buddies (10 or 25), and take hours out of your day with all these people and progress through a massive dungeon. Farming 30 minute dungeons isn't really that "epic".

I know that's something I've come to find. Even though I really didn't care for the holy trinity and how mind numbingly easy certain boss fights were, I do miss having TONS of people in a group all chatting about random stuff and having a good time - but not just for 30 minutes, but through an entire progression of a massively huge dungeon that could take hours upon hours.

GW2 is GW2 and WoW is WoW, I wouldn't want them to bleed into each other, I just miss that progression with a huge group of people.
Very good point, I almost forgot about it.

The thing with GW2 is, not only are dungeons short and do they require small teams, you also can't fail most of them. Same for storylines, you just start again from waypoint and any number of wipes doesn't matter, there's no Death Penalty in the end you'll make it. Even killing Zhaitain is close to peanuts. That you finished - most - dungeons basically doesn't mean anything at all because almost everyone can do it. No need to every try again or learn from your mistakes.

Compared to FoW or UW where a run could take hours and where you got kicked out when you had a wipe, this is far from "epic", it's almost too easy and meaningless.

#2014600 Daily Achievement Award Collection Question

On all characters. So that means you can do daily's with each character and get rewards. So if you have 5 characters you can do 5 daily's. One with each character. Daily's are character bound not account bound.

i'm not going to find the quote but it's out there.

Not true at all.  All your characters work towards the SAME daily/monthly and they share their progress (i.e., you can do 3 events on one character than swap to do the last two, etc.)  You can talk about whatever quotes you like but anyone who has more than one character will know from direct experience that what you're saying isn't true.

#1957561 Why do Tier 1 Cultural Weapons cost 9000+ karma ?

#1935852 Guild Wars 2 is smaller than Skyrim?

It takes 20 minutes to walk from Solitude to Whiterun following the road. And By walking I mean walking, like NPC do.

Spoiler

#1940576 How much gold do you make at 80? Casual play and farming.

Posted Lambert on 17 September 2012 - 03:42 PM

Please feel free to explain how you get 2 gold in 10 minutes in Orr gathering mats. I feel like 90% of the people on here are greatly exaggerating the amount of money they make, or get lucky one hour out of the countless they spent farming and use it as a base for the money they made. The absolute fastest I have been able to make money was doing dungeon runs.

#1913593 Been There Done That vs Map Completion

Posted Savantly on 10 September 2012 - 08:40 PM

My guess is it's either POI in dungeons, or what really think is it's the fog thing.  I'm thinking the missing parts could be like caverns that are easily overlooked and you can't really see what you haven't found just by looking at the map.  Just a guess though.  I am about 4 places shy of Kryta 100% and I know I missed more than 1 POI in the Manor dungeon.

#1889219 What's the general concensus on making money

Sup with the over 4 million soft logs for sale? Stuff like that does not bode well for the future economics of this game.

Posted Jyasu on 06 September 2012 - 06:05 AM

Many of us have met this issue.

A very intuitive individual suggested that A-Net is purposely slowing down overall earning to keep power-players from getting too rich or too far ahead.

I have a hunch that they'll making things cheaper eventually but to make things this ridiculous this early in the game actually provides me a sense of comfort. I feel like I don't have to invest a bunch of time to be competitive and take advantage of the game's early weeks/months, despite others trying so hard.

I'm personally earning more by leveling new characters- and the upside is that I'm avoiding the 80 grind entirely. (Also, I'm re-earning the mats necessary for crafting that I would otherwise have to spend a fortune to receive on the overpriced TP.)

#1875923 Grind, grind, grind...

Posted Knuckledust13 on 04 September 2012 - 05:44 AM

I can't believe this... 2 months ago everyone was celebrating ArenaNet for taking away the need to grind for max stats armor and weapons, just like GW1...

Now that it has shown up that there is actual grind, there are people actually supporting it?! Don't you guys think on those who can't play as much as you to amass 300k karma for one max stats set??? omg....

Oh come on, it's not that bad.  There are mmo's out there with grinds 100 times worse!  Besides, what exactly did you plan to do as a level 80 decked out in cheap exotics?  Hmm?

Mmorpgs take time.  That's why I love them.  Exotic armor should be....EXOTIC.  It's supposed to be hard to obtain.

This argument is completely invalid because one of the selling points of the game was 0 GRIND

But just as much grind.

Who cares? It's not a mandatory grind. It's an optional grind to give people something special if they want to keep playing.

Cool I wish they would ban all the exploiters. Glad to see A-Net is on top of these things.
