In this article they state: "Speaking of rewards, the Fractals of the Mist Dungeon will introduce the new ‘Ascended' item type. This type is a bit more powerful than the Exotic quality items currently found in the game. There will only be a couple of Ascended quality items available initially, but some of the rarer Ascended items will also feature a new Infusion slot that will make players even more powerful so that they can tackle new challenges that ArenaNet plans to throw at them as they continue to expand on the dungeon over the coming months and years."
This to me sounds like these new ascended armors might be limited to the dungeon and the dungeon continues to get progressively harder perhaps requriing the upgrading of the armor itself to tackle the harder levels of the dungeon as it continues to grow.
Perhaps and I hope this armor might be only useful against these karka things much like infused armor was only useful against the mursaat. Ergo perhaps they're introducing a sort of gear treadmill in one place for people that want a gear treadmill.
too early to say and I doubt Arenanet would throw away such a core design phylosofy
I would have some preferences for my guardian. First of all, something long ranged that is a bit better than the scepter and more range. Maybe like asked before a rifle. Or perhaps a crossbow
For melee I would love a goedendag ( i think another common word for that would be flail?), perhaps the chain should be extendable while in use. I would love that.
Also, no spear on mainland? Crazy. I would love one on land instead of in the water.
I had a level 26 warrior, got bored to make a theif (Sadly took me 64 levels to decide didnt fit my playstyle) now I have a 43 guardian that I love so far.
Not once did I do a dungeon.
I sell every single thing of loot to vendor or tp, and non-stop mine and bought very few pebbles/lumps exc...From things I crafted and sold, and from all my stuff I sell instantly I have..
Warrior - white dye
Thief - black dye, white dye, cultural armor 2 set
Guardian - Black dye, celestial dye, cultural armor 1 and 2 set.
Point is, you would be surprised how much you can make in the game if you don't try to make money, and just play and know how to spend money correctly. Stop blaming the game for your poor decesions on how to make money. personally in dungeons i think the ONLY reward should be the tokens for the armors.
yep, todays world in general is about "easy" mode and instant gratification and "winning" the game........most of todays gamers wouldnt have lasted a month in the original EQ with the amoun of time it took to level and difficulty of bosses , nuthin but a bunch of whining and not willing to earn it or learn anything players these days.........
I really don't understand why everyone cry about all the recent nerfs
In fact, am I the only one who likes them?
First of all, what's the freaking rush? seriously, the game is not a month old and everyone is in a crazy haste to get everything available RIGHT NOW
You can see whiners everywhere:
"Cultural armor is so expensive it's over 250k karma"
"I need to make CoF like 25-40 times before I can get my whole set"
"Legendary items are too damn expensive"
WELL OF COURSE IT IS! IT'S FREAKING END-GAME LUXURY ARMOR/WEAPON
It has the same stats as every other level 80 exotic which is easily obtainable in the TP or simply by crafting but "noooooooooooooo we must get THAT item". and of course it's going to be hard to get, what's the point otherwise? Everyone in the map has complete [Insert dungeon name here] set with legendary weapon and the game loses it's value after 2-3 months ...
Did none of you play GW1? Did none of you get the Obsidian armor set? a freaking 1000k worth of armor. I know I did. I farmed my ass off to get this armor with what not method (FoWSC, 600/Smith , 600/SS, 55, 330Rit, SoS Rit, UW SF, Raptor farm, Glacial shroud farm...) day by day for like 3 or 4 months but when I finally had it fully black dyed with sup runes I felt godly. So maybe I'm just a bad farmer / have the worst luck but it shouldn't take anyone 2 days to get those kind of stuff
I'm not living in a fantasy world that gw2 will be completely farm-free but come on, just play the game and enjoy it, I have a level 80 character and I didn't even reached orr. I'm just having fun roaming around the world completing stuff, having fun with friends / guilidies doing jumping puzzles or whatever, leveling alts etc etc...
Absolutely true. I love this game as well. I am a casual gamer and like to think that I represent a large number of people in the game. I am perfectly content with getting gear and weapons (including legendary) the old fashioned way outside of any help from an in-game store. I don't care how long it takes, because I am taking the time to enjoy the game and not rushing. I will be happier when the other people who didn't understand Anet's direction either move on or get a clue about what this game is about. They are not building a 'typical MMO'. I fear many people came into the game thinking they could do everything the same way as before.
Enjoy the game people, its not a race to high gear or any sort of end game.
Still I worry that the conditioning on the average gamer's part will be too hard to change after years of the same kind of MMO. This was evidenced more clearly by the first rush to lvl 80 a couple days in.
I wear the Hall of Monuments cosmetics all the time, haven't really changed into town clothes except to see what they looked like as default as I don't spend that much time in the towns once I'd explored them all...
I also use my heritage armor, but seeing as how you can't fight in town clothes I rarely bother with them.
Nothing because the offered Items are mostly so far away from a fantasy MMO... Aviator Sunglasses and boxing gloves ? Realy ? It`s a damn fantasy MMO and this is so distracting and won`t fit in the world so I`m really happy that the users are not buying those. Only the Pirate costume is worth a look.
They should bring better fantasy and game related items than I`m willing to buy but the current items looking like designed by someone who have never played the game itself. They just ruin the great look of the character.
Additional they should automatically change the outfit to town clothes as soon as you enter a town.
I just recently hit L80, and I'm trying to finish my story quest. Does anyone else absolutely HATE the Orr areas? There aren't any heart quests. All the DE need a group, which sucks because there isn't many people at that area.
we are a little over a week into the game..and you expect a huge amount of people to be at endgame?..we have lives you know other then gw
