Well, it depends on what you felt was missing. There's going to be more of the Living story coming out on the 26th of Febuary along with guild missions, a new PvP map, more culling fixes, and if you have not been on for months, there has been four new jumping puzzles/open world dungeons, Fractals dungeon, Dailies have been updated with more rewards, karma vendors now have more stuff (especially in Orr), and there is the Karka island.
If all else fails, come back when the expansion comes along this fall/winter and check out the new features and storyline. Remember, you do not HAVE to keep playing all the time, if you want to go away and try new things for a while, go ahead. No sub :-D!
This is a game without monthly fee, and it has been out about 6 months, and yet it have had more releases, new stuff and events than most P2P games have the first YEAR or so, especially outside of expansions.
I wouldn't go that far. Halloween and Wintersday are stock events that every game has some form of. There's definitely a story behind fractals (most likely was cut to make the August release date, but definitely was in development prior to release), but otherwise the Lost Shores event was pretty obviously thrown together hastily (Southsun Cove still is a wasteland and probably forever will be). The new JPs and mini-dungeons were a nice touch, but I can't say I've seen anymore since they were implemented during Halloween.
So that leaves the not-quite-released Living Story, which is being released piecemeal, and at a slow rate.
It's really not all that impressive. It's certainly not equivalent to the large monthly content updates the fanboys promised.
What i felt missing was alot!!!
The activities (we was promised bar brawl at release, but appearently they didnt forfill their promise)
More end game.
I really dont understand why MMO creators dont take a look at other MMOs and take everything from them into their own, its the only way to long lasting succes.
Actually here is a list i made on GW2 forum before ban.
Here is a few ideas i have for the game. PvP modes:
Capture the flag
King of the hill Activity:
Jumping Puzzle Race
“Tag, Your it”
Hide & Seek
Quiz Show 3vs3 (Team vs Team / Guild vs Guild) Charr:
Replace dance with Gangnam Style
The only thing that is new and might interest you is the fractal dungeons. They are fun for awhile, but get really boring because there are only a few different very short dungeons that you just repeat over and over. I would jump into the game and get your dailies and monthly done. Might regret not getting them in if you do decide to start playing again further down the road.
Needs? And yet it has sold over 3 million copies less than 6 months after release with more and more people being logged in the last 5 weeks?
Clearly people don't feel that they game NEED those things for it to be worth playing.
Just because YOU want some things does not mean that those same thing will work with what ArenaNet have in mind for their game. It is after all their game. If you don't like it, there are about 50 other games that have all those things you feel that this game NEEDs.
You are one of the sheep obviously. They use sold copies then tell the world their numbers are going up. With discounted box sales and no sub, why wouldn't the number sold go up? Do you think more or less concurrent players are on now vs Sept? The game has done well, however. Yet, it will become a niche game going forward just like GW1. RvR/pvp has received zero attention and pve is nothing but pointless grind. The game has its merits, but it will be hit like all games in the next few years as there are more and more options for gamers. Then sandbox is about to make a serious comeback and bland themeparks like GW2 will be back to the niche mode.
Meanwhile, enjoy those dailies, fractals over and over and especially that living, breathing empty island. You're right though, those that love the game will keep playing while probably at least 50% of the original month concurrent users are off playing other games.
