Yes you're misunderstanding quite badly. I don't want things asap, I want to get things without having to play every day. The current method of Laurels requires you to log in and play for a bit every day. I'd much rather a system where you could get them by playing the game when you wanted to. So instead of logging in for half an hour every day, I could log in 2 or 3 hours for a couple of days on say the weekend, and get the same reward.
It's the fact we have to log in every single day to get this reward. It goes against the casual theme this game once had.
I also think your other points are wrong. it isn't confirmed that achievements will give Laurels, in fact Anet have stated they may have a different reward system. Google the quote but I'm sure it's been posted already. Secondly, many people consider having the best stats as required, especially if you are competitive WvWer, and the Laurels have the ascended amulet. You may not care about WvW or being competitive but many other people do.

Not really. If say you want an ascended amulet, forgot how much it costs, think 35 laurels? might be wrong but for the sake of argument lets say 35 laurels. You dont need to play everyday, you need to either play for either 35 days, can be any 35 days dont have to be consequitive or for 25 days (provided you also complete the monthly) or even for 15 days (provided you finish the monthly and spread it over 2 months) or even for just 5 days provided you spread it across 3 months and in 3 of those 5 days you take the time to finish of the monthly. It will be more relaxed if you spread it over 6 months instead of 3. If you're not concerned with timing its fairly relaxed.
if you just play weekends provided you finish of monthlies as well you can get that 35 laurel item in 2 months.
For your statement to be true you either want to get whatever you're after in the least possible time. IE in this case it would be unacceptable for you to wait more then 25 days to aquire this item or if laurels resetted back to 0 if you missed a single day.
But then you're coming back to the original premise if your issue with the dailies is you have to get the amulet because you feel without it you're not competitive in WvW the problem is you feel you have to aquire it in the least amount of time possible and not that you're forced to log on every single day.
