#2199994 Don't flame negative predictions/discussion of GW2 so quickly

That's great, but then what's the point of THIS thread?  Just another bitch and moan session for people with nothing better to do than say "I told you so?"

#2199051 Colin Johanson on Magic Find and May Updates

Posted Captain Bulldozer on 06 May 2013 - 08:29 PM

The "locked chest system + treasure hunter title track" in GW1 was vastly superior to the current "uber magic find or low loot" fiasco in my opinion.  Making people buy lockpick/keys to get the better loot worked well and served as a decent gold sink at the same time.  The title track the served to increase your odds of not breaking a lockpick also gave incentive to do this, while simultaneously creating a "chest-running" subculture.  I'm not saying it didn't have its flaws, but at least it didn't make loot gear based like in GW2.

I would love to see magic find removed from the game entirely and the loot systems updated to reflect that (by increasing the chances of good drops in a way which is equivalent to everyone having tons of magic find.)  I personally have never felt that magic find made much sense from either a lore perspective or a gameplay one.

#2191118 Why am I a sylvari?!

Posted Dasryn on 13 April 2013 - 07:48 AM

im finding that the only armor that looks good for the sylvari are sylvari cultural and TA set.  and vice versa for other races.  i see humans in TA set all the time and im like, why didnt you just roll sylvari?

#2192354 Is it even possible to get a Legendary without playing the Trading Post?

Posted Greibach on 16 April 2013 - 06:27 PM

Definitely echoing what Verene said. I am almost finished with mine, though my precursor is FAR cheaper, and I started in February I think. Never did TP shenanigans, I just did a lot of dungeons, some fractals, regular farming, and world event chests. That's honestly it. It really does add up pretty fast if you are putting your money towards that specific goal. If you have 2 monitors, or just have some free time that you are messing around on the computer, just open up the dragon timer website and hop over and wait for an event, and do something else while you wait. I paint miniatures as a hobby, so when I want to paint, I just set up GW2 on my desk and take a 5 minute break whenever a dragon spawns.

Even with the cheap precursor, the rest of the mats are very expensive as well, so I certainly feel that I could have done it with a more expensive precursor, it just would have taken a lot longer. Now I am just filling in the rest of my T6 mats, I have everything else already done.

Who else feels legendary precursors should also be claimed from a quest?

would be nice if they could at least be salvaged for mists essence items.

Really. So to get your T3 sylvari armor you was playing new builds (no builds on gw2, we have weapons and that's it), playing better (about what, you was just grinding gold), playing solo (aye, grinding gold), duoing (lol?) , doing speedfarms (ayeaye, AC+CoF), doing a complete normal run. I mean, are you seriously attempting to compare uw/fow and a full black dye obsidian armor with gw2's content? Not even Arah and that T3 can be compared, oh please.
I gathered FoW-armor by trapping ettins in the days runes were still 30 platinum to 100 platinum for the sup vigor (or another very much desired rune). I never said I was doing UW or FoW, I only did that later, and using the same generalization you are using, I was then only 'grinding' those areas for the ecto and shards to sell for some platinum. Over and over. Those areas weren't hard once you got the knack of it. I'm not sure why you think UW and FoW, FoW-armor and black dye are the epitome of how engaging GW was, because to me, it simply were two areas rife with exploitable areas, a very harsh failure condition and FoW-armor a suit of armor everyone was running around with after 2 years. Nostalgia is bitch.

On GW2, I consider swapping into an entirely new weapon set, with a new trait setup, with a new suit of armor with different stats as a new build. Playing greatsword-axe/warhorn is entirely different to me from playing shortbow-sword/axe on a ranger. That's fun to me. Compared to GW where I used a build that got things done and stuck with me for 4 years, I already have tried out more builds in GW2 in 6 months than 6 years of GW.

I don't follow how you jump to conclusions about how my play is intended for grinding gold. I am simply playing the game, discovering new areas, helping players around and along the way, yes, gold will be accumulated. Yesterday I wanted to kill a champion Hylek in Caledon Forest, a champion I wasn't able to kill during launch. I killed it together with friend and stumbled upon a puzzle where I needed to place stones in a certain arrangement for a door to open. That's stuff I thoroughly enjoy.

The difference between your idea and what I was actually doing is I didn't grind for gold. I played the game, then gold happened.

In short, your experience might not be the same as mine. Stop projecting your views and try to accept some people might approach things differently or are even able to enjoy different things.

So you both seriously enjoy rinse /repeating 800 times the same boring content, with the same 10 skills again and again, doing billion times the same stupid fractals , then AC then CoF? Ugh.. Enjoy..

How is this any different from farming for Obsidian armor? Pot, meet kettle.

Only if he didn't enjoy it.

Same in GW2, the dungeons/fractals/sPvP/WvW aren't a grind if I enjoy them.

Quite funny how grinding an instance forever in GW1 was endgame but doing the same thing in GW2 is not.

I can't say for certain if the game is dying or not, but these forums have definitely dried up quite a bit over the months.

Unfortunately that's what happens when the handful of people continuously come back and bash the game for any reason they can find, those that don't even play the game or care for it in anyway... just the bored pathetic trolls.

Over time the real players, the people who were here for discussion, advice, tips and chat have long gone now leaving us with multiple threads like this one. Feels like an old woman's social gathering.

#2169310 Commissions Not Allowed

Posted shanaeri rynale on 23 February 2013 - 06:44 PM

While I was at lunch with Colin Johanson on Weds, I had a brief chat with Aiden (the EU CM) re: this issue. he stated that the risk of scamming was the main factor behind it, but that if people who had been artists and customers in GW1 could PM me with their experiences (both good and bad) he would make sure this issue was revisited.

Basically, they need to be convinced they wont get a bazillion support tickets about being scammed by artists. So, hopefully given enough examples and testimonies we can change their mind. So while its not a dead cert theu will change their mind, at least they are prepared to have another look.

Please, if you see someone kiting a mob and dodging but not attack don't kill the mob.
They are probably doing daily dodge.
This happened to me 4 times tonight making a 5 min process take way longer.
I do like the fact people are willing to help but it does get frustrating.

Thank you and see you in game

No. I'll kill what I please. If you want the daily dodge, go do something challenging.

One path of CoE played correctly will give you this daily.
