without an inspect feature, how can you tell if a player isnt "built right"?
I ask them what build they are running (trait distribution and stats distribution on gear) obviously
this way u can gues 80% of the build ... ofc at least 50% of the build effectiveness is based on the players skill anyway but still it's enough for me to filter those I don't want to play with ...
yep u are right, Eles are not DPS class ... they can be build that way - look for the lightning hammer build - but it's not worth it
on the other hand Eles are amazing support class ... they can provide massive amount of buffs and heals WHILE maintaining decent dmg also (we are looking at +-50% of full DPS warrior)
30 Arcane is not there for boon duration but attunement swapping recharge ... basically u should be rotating throu the attunements on CD
about the weapon sets - this is the beauty (or bane) of Ele ... with 0/X/X/30/30 setup u can run effectively any weapon combination - therefore u can (and should) swap weapon sets based on encounter u are facing
General consensus of who exactly? Never heard this claim before.
I have heard that if you want to zerg farm CoF path 1 you want 4 warriors and a mesmer, and if you want to use a map exploit in CoF p2 to complete it in under 5 minuts, you want all warriors and guardians (and to hope you don't get banned).
Other than that - there is no advantage to these choices in general content.
Anyone else notice all the people complaining mobs now hit harder or CC? Yeah - zerker doesn't really work so well outside of specialized content does it?
Sure if you ONLY ever ran CoF p1 and then did the circuit of dragon timers... you could say "only bring X"...
But that's what? 5% or less of the game.
So the entire premise is severely flawed. My suggestion is to ignore the zerker idiots claiming you need these things, and just play the whole game. If you go to CoF, do it with guildies and friends so you can actually play the content and not have some fool in the back granny-yelling about needing zerkers and a mesmer with time-warp.
I've got characters of all 8 classes, though not all are level 80. I find it varies day by day as to which is the most effective for me. I change up gear and talent builds very often on the leveling characters to find what's ideal. The general theme though seems to be that in the wider full range content of this game; a balanced build with a combination of damage and mitigation works best. HOW one reaches damage and mitigation can then vary. Some of my characters use a lot of toughness, others vitality, two have even worked in lots of bonus-healing to good effect. Some use a lot ot power, others precision, a few even condition damage.
Fools who say "only X is good" are often looking at it from a limited POV: only in content Y, and the end result is really only a gain of Z-seconds that could just as likely be RNG or player skill rather than build...
- But it gets a video and a build post, and then gets picked up as a meme generalization. Even though its really just an annecdote.
except there is no content (PvE) in this game where defensive setup is better then offensive one
sure not everyone can handle full zerg setup and it's completely fine for them to run builds for baddies like shout heal warr, etc.
but if I call for ppl to speedclear party then those with such builds have no right to be offended when i kick them
I have no problem carrying guildies with not so usefull classes (necros, rangers, ...) through the content to get them the DM title or to get them to higher lvl fractal (even thou it's pointless) but I'm not gonna waste my time for randoms who can't build they class properly or play weak class at wrong place (blame ANet, not me)
reasons to pla something other than war guard mes?
here's a few:
becaues you want to play something that is fun for you
because you RP and you made a character that isnt a war guard or mes
because you want to relate to the character you control on screen and you simply arent a war gurad mes type
Because it is not NEEDED in GW2
lets think about htat last one for a sec. Why is there a need to play war guard or mes in GW2? there isnt. all content in GW2 can be completed by all professions. you can 5 ranger all dungeons, you can 5 necro all fractals, you can WvW with all engies.
the need is derived from speed clears or gold farming. because its easier to do what is needed to be done to speed clear/farm with those three professions that in order to be taken seriously in the speed clear/farming community you must play those three professions.
so now we're talking outside of said communities - the need to play nothing but those three professions is non existent.
you can play whatever you want and receive ZERO prejudice for it. i know, i have a ranger that i got DM on. that means i got into ALL dungeons and completed them with a ranger. MEANING - i got no prejudice or discrimination for being one of the so called "worst classes of the game".
I would rly like to see 5 necro 50+ fractal Shaman
