In Topic: Server hopping is still an issue

It's the imbalance that massive server influxes that cause such damage.  It's not for the match up, it's a cascading event that damages the whole WvW server matchups.

When a server who plays consistently in tier 4, gets bumped to tier 6 because the server they played caused a massive point differential, then chances are good the tier 6 teams will get a pounding in a similar fashion.  It will take a month or more for standings to settle again.

That's why Anet needs to implement a better balancing in transfers.

Switch a server, no WvW for a couple of weeks.
Switch a server, but only to one that is two tiers away from you.
Switch a server, pay 1000 gems for the privelege.
Request a server change, the change takes 2 weeks to take effect, to stop bandwagoners.

The argument that all influence goes away when you transfer, is not a punishment as people think, especially if you are constantly hopping severs and don't intend to stay.

You need to induce some lasting server loyalty, because when the balance tips because frequent transfers, the servers that get pounded in oblivion get discouraged and stop playing in WvW and possibly all together... a bottom line that Anet won't be happy with once this starts happening frequently.

I've gotten this too, and most WvW frequenters have likely heard it too, but I've gotten it less in the last few weeks, so maybe a fix has reduced its recurrence.

This highlights my point very well.  There is no cross server chat mechanism, so you cannot here other servers in game, within WvW at least.  Forums are essentially the main place to read such chatter, and it is by choice that a forum is read.  It is not like real world games where fans and players can grandstand and posture from the sidelines and the other team must bear witness.

There should be no reason (or mechanism in place to) why a guild from one server transfers to another server and return to the original server the following week to 'teach a lesson' to the server they just were just on.  In general it's in poor taste and bad sportsmanship, however deserved.  In the end it just punishes a whole server and discourages WvW play when a whole group is punished for the actions of a few.  Every server grandstands, postures, and talks smack.  It's the nature of the game and can be seen in real life all the time.  Taking offense and taking advantage of a game mechanism to exact a lesson is not how players should conduct themselves.

ArenaNet should prevent guilds/players to transfer from one server to another server just so that they can play against them for the next match up.  Encourage server loyalty and if guilds/players do not want to do so by choice, Anet must force the issue, so WvW match ups aren't thrown into such disarray by bandwagoners and grumpy players.

If the reason why Augury Rock and Gandara went toe to toe with Piken Square for three weeks straight, because of players being on break and guilds returning, so be it.  But it sounds a bit incredulous to me.

Most new commanders don't bother trying to communicate.  More often than not I read "zerg on me!!!" What, that isn't leadership, you are just trying to get a mass of players to try to steamroll something.

If commanders communicated and typed out their plans in chat, I'd respect them more.  I won't follow you because you have a blue icon.  If you are doing stupid stuff, I'll call you out, you're just another player.

I have zero Ascended items, it's the way it's going to stay, as I'm not going to grind for the items, whether for the capacitor or an RNG drop. :)
