Personally I like the idea of the achievements; tied to doing something difficult, but not necessary. It's very similar in style to raid achievements. However this only works with permanent content. I agree that when it's temporary, there's a rush to grind it for hours trying to find a group that can work and be successful etc. If it was permanent then you could get a group at any time, try once a week or whatever and get it eventually.
Exactly, now the only thing I can think about when firing up GW2 isn't having fun in WvW or doing my dailies, it's grinding this goddamn dungeon so I don't leave this achievement open.
As I said, I haven't missed a single temp. achievement (or item) so far, but it's getting pretty ridiculous if they release stuff like this every 2 weeks.
Also, I am guessing that those of us that do not plan on doing the meta achievement will forever be locked out of this node?
Not to mention the Achievement system basically ordering you to login on a regular basis in order to complete the Achievements for temp content to get this stuff. As davadude's example shows, this isn't optimal for everyone. At least with the holiday stuff, it has a chance of swinging around again, but with Lost Shores, Southsun, F&F and this Aetherblade crap... it'll never happen again.
Seems like they're trying to entice people to stick with their game, which I suppose is a good thing, however, rewards are not enough. They need to give people more than go to A, B, C, ..., Z and spam 'Interact' to make the achievements fun.
As of right now, all I continue to see is a boring checklist of things to knock off.
Also, calling it that this Achievement stuff will give you ONE skin for ONE character on ONE account. It should enable you to spawn the skins in your inventory as BoA, that way you can deck all your characters out in complete sets if you like the skins enough.
And you were rewarded with one piece of actual armor for completing story for the first time. Why on earth did they remove this? On top of it all they put in crap armor that you can easily find as loot, and listed the real armor as exotic. I find it scandalous and I'm surprised so many people are just accepting this. They waited until launch to sucker in this disgusting change.
Just wait for the more casual players to reach 80. When they will try the dungeons, fail because it's too hard for most people and see the numbers of run they have to do for a complete armor, if things are still as it is currently, the backlash will be hilarious.
