The only rings that would go to waste are the ones that you equipped without thinking and then decided to swap out for different stats. Just hold on to those because you never know with ArenaNet...although back slot items are STILL un-salvageable/forgeable...
As for the other non-soulbound rings...
Have you geared out all 8 of your level 80 characters with ascended rings already?
Have you infused all of them?
Have you made multiple sets of ascended gear for each of those characters for different builds?
Come back and re-post this thread when you've reached that point...then we can discuss why you are still playing this game.

That always gets people to be giggly and bouncing. In reality it means once a week you'll have a chance for 2 rare items you receive to be exotic or even a precursor. The chances are as big as if you'd toss 8 rares a week into the Mystic Forge, exactly that high the chances are for you to get one as a guild mission reward.
This also means that in one week we'll start to see precursor prices dropping, eventually into the realm of affordability (hopefully).

Here's the condition build I'm running for roaming solo and with small groups in WvW:

Lovin the survivability with 3 stealth skills, 4 stun breaks, and 3 invuln skills (extra distortion at 50% hp). Regularly defending supply camps against full parties and picking off the stragglers of enemy zergs. Confusion is just too good

Ele and Engi are the two classes that can be simple or hard to master depending on your build. For simplicity, try a staff Ele with tons of toughness, condition damage, and cantrips, or a power rifle/elixir build for engi. Both excel at killing, tho not as derp as warriors (but still more utility!)
For higher levels of play, you can't get any more versatile than engi with 2-3 kits. Ele is not that far behind, except each weapon has specific purposes, so you'll have to swap to the right weapon before a fight begins.
Both classes don't really shine until around level 80, so you'll want to make use of all those materials you acquired thru creating/deleting characters...and CRAFT! Dungeon runs (AC) also make leveling as painless as possible, just swap from your main to your alt for the final boss.
I'm still searching for the "best" class for me as well, and these two classes are the ones I enjoy most at the moment. Mesmer is slowing growing on me tho...
