#2165335 Precursor R & D Thread

Posted danitheqt on 17 February 2013 - 09:47 AM

Okay, i fortunately recovered from a huge loss (gambling with GS) by getting spark/colossus/legend afterwards.
But beeing that close to bankruptcy, I decided to never ever gamble again.

So here's my final statistics:

INPUT:
24.796 rare lvl 80 weapons (counting in the rares i got back).

OUTPUT:
Dusk
Dawn
Spark x2
Colossus x2
Zap
Legend x4
Lover
+ an additional 1248 exotics.

Process:
  • Always used 4 weapons of the same type
  • I've mainly used A+A+B+B, but sometimes also A+A+A+A
  • ALWAYS sold exotics on the TP, never used them to gamble. (I dont think it makes a difference, wheter an exotic you get out of the MF was made by 4 rare lvl 80s or 4 exotics. It just takes 16rares to get one rather than 4 exotics. Assuming the same chance of getting the precursor, gambling with rares is alot less moneyconsuming. This assumption is of course open to dispute, I and probably noone else have enough data to (dis)prove it. ;) )
Some insights:
  • Chance of getting an exotic by throwing in 4 lvl 80 rares: 20,13% (equals 16rares, cause you get back 4 that you can just throw in again)
  • It doesn't seem to make a difference, wheter you're using A+A+A+A or A+A+B+B or A+B+C+D (at least it didnt for me)
  • Chance of getting a precursor by throwing in 4 lvl 80 rares for me: 0,1936% (equals ~517 forges)
  • Staves seem to be the most efficient weapon when it comes to profitmaking. Exotics get bought quicker and yield a higher profit, costs to craft them are lower (daggers come closest to staves, gs afterwards)
  • If you're going to gamble too, make sure to have enough spare money, cause alot of it gets bound to mats and exotics! (Really ALOT...)

RNG at its finest:
  • Dusk: took me ~ 3550 rares
  • Dawn  ~ 50 rares
  • Legend  ~ 950rares
  • Spark  ~ 780 rares
  • Zap  ~ 330 rares
  • Legend  ~ 3200 rares
  • Legend  ~ 1500 rares
  • Colossus  ~ 400 rares
  • Lover  ~ 2450 rares
  • Spark  ~ 8900 rares (ive used 8200 GS rares without any precursor, and then swapped to daggers....)
  • Colossus  ~ 280 rares
  • Legend  ~ 2400 rares

Hope this helps some ppl. Since I decided to stop gambling, there will be no further input from my side.
GL! :P

#2140515 Snowflake: Just got resolution for my banned account...

If Anet is going to arbitrarily ban people for their poorly-defined idea of exploit, then I applaud them for at least not stealing money in the process.

#2129376 End of year GOTY Awards...agree or disagree....

That's what a vocal minority accomplishes.

People think the game is very bad, but in reality it's just a couple of people whining about a small part of the game.
Result is everybody forgets the good parts of the game.

But people that can remain objective and keep a distance from forums like this can give their opinion, and apparently some of these people think GW2 is GOTY. :)

#2119522 Please make my legendary legendary

First of all, im german. Sry if there are alot of mistakes.

Due to laughs and taunts i've earned and the fact that the legendary focus skin blows, I really try to reach someone of ANet on this way, since there was no reaction on a thread i wrote in the offical board.

For those who never seen it:

Its not the shiny scepter btw...

There are awesome melee legendary weapons with really amazing effects, like footprints, a shiny veil or at least stunning slash effects or looks.

The focus blows and it makes me really sad that ive spend so much time and affort for that creepy item. The Anomalie is even much more a legendary weapon like.

Why not give items these effects with system? Like for example:

Off-hand Weapons: Footprints
1h weapons: Veil(shiny)/ lightning, glow, whatever... / slash effects
2h weapons: all effects

Not sure, but i guess there wont be anyone not lucky with that.

Well, i really like the game, but if i had a choice now, i had NEVER put about 300 hours of my life in such a boring focus.

Greetz, Borgzul

#2000463 "Balance is pretty good."

So, since I imagine we both fail this test - please explain what does a stealth-popping, leaping like crazy, stun spamming, high damage class bring to the game that is SO valuable that it wouldn't be worth giving up for a resemblance of balance in hot-join?
As I said, I do not see what these classes bring to the game outside of catering to the RP players and as such, I wouldn't mind seeing them be reduced to being RP classes.

Stun spamming? Do you even play? I'm going to assume since you point to heartseeker nubs that you don't and are basing it off what you hear from others. There are tons of stun-break skills that render PWhip useless (and now he's out of initiative because he's been spamming it on you, he's screwed). Mesmers get owned by marking. Guardians are annoying, and can be toned down if necessary. But no, you want them removed because you're unable to compete with them. Okay, so you're bad, we get that.

Why do you want to balance anything around hot-join which is inherently unbalanced? Hot-join is for people who want to mess around with new builds or just want to unwind and relax. You really don't have any idea about competitive video games do you. Any mode where one side can outnumber the other by even one player is inherently unbalanced.
