Born July 1847. Native of Etobicoke, ON. Arrived in Montana at age 17. Served on the Territorial Senate of MT. 1873, elected sheriff of Lewis & Clark County. 1876, moved to Deadwood, SD and opened Star & Bullock Hardware. Later made first sheriff of Deadwood. 1890, founded the town Belle Fourche. Built the Bullock Hotel in 1895. Appointed U.S. Marshal for S. Dakota by friend Theodore Roosevelt. Captain of Rough Riders during Spanish-American War. Died September, 1919.
