[Build] Knight of the Nine Boons.

05 February 2013 - 04:34 AM

This build is based off a cohesion of the trait Empowered with the Runes of Lyssa and other innate abilities of the Warrior to increase his damage by percentage.

This build offers:
  • Extreme Damage
  • Very high Survivability
  • Extreme Mobility
  • Very high Condition Removal
The concept is this; whenever you use Signet of Rage you get all boons in the game for 15 seconds.
This includes OP stuff such as Retailiation and Protection which greatly increase both damage and survivability, and Stability which makes you immune to CC.
Also, this build removes all conditions and turns them into boons (again, including retailation and protection).

As long as your Endurance is not full and you're popping SoR/warhorn skills when out of CD you can't have less than +38% damage bonus. (+36% if you don't bother with Warhorn).
A normal glass cannon gets only +22-25% bonus damage without any sort of protection, this build gets you more damage than glass cannons while a ton more survivability.

Plus it gets as high as 58% when you are in the godmode status that SoR gives you for 15 seconds and your enemy is marked.

And on top of this, you get +40% Magic Find. This is the most magic find you can get by food, and since this food also gives 20% boon duration your godmode status will last 2 seconds more than normal.

Armor:
- Berserker gear.
- Rune of Lyssa

Jewels:
- Pow/Prec/CritDmg from jewels (36% crit damage).

Sigils:
- Either Superior Force or Strength, personal preference; it's also useful to stack 250 power by using Sigil of Bloodlust on your weapon swap.

Food:
- Chocolate Omnomberry Cream + Superior sharpening stone

Note:
This build is also extremely good for WVW with some adaptations.
Swap shouts for Bull/Bolas and Frenzy, swap shout trait for Leg Specialist.
Good luck killing a Warrior with 15s of godmode and extreme damage.

The concept is 100% uptime on Signet of Rage boons plus high uptime on vigor.

And on top of this, you get +45% duration on all boons in general and maximized critical chance.

What if the whole Tyria...

03 February 2013 - 09:11 PM

...was actually the endgame?
Yes, remember it was the initial idea that the entire world would be the endgame?
Let's pretend that tomorrow a new patch blasts GW2 with something like this.

Once you are lvl 80, a number of special, "hardmode" events/JPs would spawn in old maps and gives you a token (once a day per map of course), that work like current dungeon tokens; you accumulate a bunch and then throw them in the mystic forge along with some gold sinking items and get an ascended item.
The result would be that you'd see people all over Tyria hunting for events, doing champions and jumping puzzles.

Not sure about you, but to me the world of Tyria is the best endgame one could ever dream of.
It's big, it's varied (goes from snow to grass to autumn environments to lava) and it's fun..
If it was just as rewarding and endgame-worthy at lvl 80 I'd feel like a kid in a chocolate factory.

Seeing as downscaling has been made more realistic I can see this happening.
A swarm of veteran Centaurs in Kessex hills with a Champ leading them, burning down the land for instance - for leveling players they would give exp, to us they would give some tokens we can use for gear.

What is your stance, would you love this, or would you prefer GW2 to continue toward instanced content?

I can't believe you let this one go.

For the first time Anet does something I consider an undeniable mistake and complete change of direction... Anet introduces... FETCH QUESTS exactly like WoW, when this game was meant by manifesto to never have such obsolete boring grinds.

Here they are:

And what does the community do? Absolutely nothing.
No one say anything because you're getting tokens for ascended without doing fractals.
You're really letting this go? GW2 haunting you everyday with 0/10 checklists and not a word?

With all the crying you do about much less important if not pointless and completely stupid stuff, I thought the forums here and officials would literally EXPLODE into war.
Nothing.

Am I seriously the only one here who thinks this is a gigantic mistake?
If they can get everyone to do 0/10 quests so easily I can't imagine the bullshit they'll release later.

They just needed to make something like giving you 10 random Events everyday on 5 different maps so you wander Tyria right?
No, they give you fetch quests like WoW that don't even require you to move to any other map.
And you say nothing "bcuz I get tha shinie rewards so who cares if whole game down trash bin rite?".

This is complete bull.

[Answered] Do January monthlies count for laurels?

30 January 2013 - 11:05 PM

I'm wondering because doing 30 JPs sounds like an extremely boring painful task to me so unless I get 10 laurels for it there is no way I'm inflicing myself such a suffering.
Doing sPvP isn't my thing either.

Anyone knows for sure if these monthlies reward any laurel or it's just karma jug?

Warriors abandoned by Anet.

30 January 2013 - 10:16 PM

Seriously I pvp a ton on many chars but my Warrior is just a desperate case of "class abandoned to itself".

Let's see what we have.

Worst gap closers:
Rush and Bull can fail by design. They can be avoided by walking, not even dodging.
Sometimes they fail even against standing people.
No fix has come yet, doubt we'll ever see one.
Bolas is too slow, you don't even need to dodge it just moving avoids it.
Sword leap is the only one that sort of comes close to what other classes have - too bad it sits on the most UP of Warrior weapons; how many of you get sword mainhand on a secondary set just for the leap? This should not be acceptable.

Worst elite:
Most classes have built-in swiftness of some sort or utility-based swiftness.
Warrior needs to bust, wair for it... AN ELITE.... AND it's not even enough!
You also need to get +swift duration / boon duration for it to cover the uptime.

Worst profession skills:
Earthshaker is bugged and sometimes fails even if you land on one's head.
Eviscerate used to be good, now it's easy to fail as the built-in gap closer is almost impairing the land rate of the skill - not to mention that if it doesn't crit it's joke damage.
Arcing slice? Possibly worst profession skill in the game.
Killshot, make sure the target is not aware of you else don't even try.

Zero ways to disengage:
Yes that's it. There is no way you're escaping anyone with a brain on a Warrior, once your worst-than-anyone-else's death-delaying tools are gone, you're dead.
We don't even have a guaranteed way to avoid a stake like most classes.

But Warriors have, ah yes, the DOMOGES.
Except that Warrior's damage is comparable to other classes normally, save for some bursty skills that comes with built-in flaws, that need to be setup by using... wait for it... the bugged gap closers/control mentioned earlier!
Castrated damage skills that rely on bugged gap closers.
It sounds like a good joke, except the joke is on you.

But Warriors have the "sturdy body".
3 seconds of immortality (fixed tooltips my ass, EP lasts 3s period, and tooltip still states 5) definitely defines a sturdy body... except Rangers and Eles access to much superior and longer-lasting versions of the same.
Mesmers can deny a lot more damage through clones, Guards have protection/heals, Thieves have stealth, Necros got DS+protection, even poor Engies have better ways of avoiding damage.
Of course high health pool matters zero in this game that's all about avoiding damage or dying.
Remember that guy with 3500 armor & double EP hammer making videos? He got barely the same survivability of other classes by going full defense!

And this was the "most complete class" according to Anet?
Having played all classes, Warrior is by far the most suffering and underdeveloped class to me.
Every time I return to my good old Warrior char I come away more and more disappointed, to the point I'm considering to salvage his gear.

Even my melee power Necro is miles better than the Warrior currently is; it has much, much more damage resistance, similar damage and WORKING gap closers.

Warriors are becoming more and more scarce around WvW and PvP places, and nothing is done in patches to address the issue.
A Warrior can't bunker solo, can't roam solo, can't spike solo anything with a brain, can't can't can't.

I just had to vent this because I put a lot of effort in my Warrior just to have an handicapped goat who's outclassed by everyone at anything and has a ton of BUGS on core, important skills - and nothing is ever done about it because Anet believes the Warrior is "final".
