In Topic: The Tequatl Debacle

24 October 2013 - 12:06 PM

Well TTS that Tequatl slaying guild is still killing him daily on multiple overflows and a couple high population servers are too but it's to be expected that most other servers can't kill that often. I honestly think Tequatls problems lie less with the event and it's difficultly and more with everything around it.

For starters for some reason the boss is still on a timer which means your probably going to be standing around waiting for him to spawn most of the time which discourages anyone trying to learn the fight. Tequatl is begging for a pre-event that only resets if he fails so you can spawn him whenever your server is ready. Also there needs to be an easier way of guilds getting their own overflow then the current "taxi" system which only a guild as large as TTS can do at this point.

Other then that there's nothing wrong with hard content in the game. There are many more world bosses and meta-events you can do daily and Tequatl was an absolute joke before this patch. If you really want to kill this guy just join one of those tequatl slaying guilds most of them are open and don't have representation rules.

In Topic: Tower of Nightmares - October 29th patch preview!

22 October 2013 - 04:42 PM

Alright so tower looks like it could be cool, teasing before they said anything was cool but the echo-y evil voice in the trailer is getting old. I mean in Tequatl's trailer it was awesome, Twilight assault it was alright, now it's like "are you doing this every patch now?".

In Topic: I can't keep up

02 October 2013 - 04:53 PM

This was a legitimate complaint but honestly it's been addressed lately.

-SAB will return and perhaps be permanent when it's finished.
-Scarlet's invasions are permanent (though they happen less often).
-Tequatl is permanent and there's still a couple open guilds dedicated to killing him.
-This new dungeon path is permanent

Even some old content like the molton alliance dungeon and the aetherblade dungeon will be returning as fractals. What exactly are you missing out on? Some achievement points? A stupid backpiece that will clog up your bank? There's no reason you can't take a break which it sounds like you need.

In Topic: It's not grind

17 September 2013 - 12:26 PM

You know I've always defined grind as being forced to do content I don't want to do in order to do content I do want to do (i.e. grinding through levels in order to reach fun content). And honestly I don't see that anywhere in this game so far. You can do pretty much every dungeon with full exotics which aren't that hard to get and have a variety of acquisition methods. Most items that require a lot of time are either a small stat bonus or just cosmetic

I honestly, I think the problem with the living story is some of the new living story content is just..... boring.... There's really no other way to say it. Grind is simply the wrong word for it. The only reason some people feel compelled to complete it is because it'll be gone soon.... which I personally don't understand.

Also the only way of differentiating yourself from other players is through massive timesinks. This game lacks truely challenging content which Anet seems to be trying to fix with this next update but we really need an underworld or some other dungeon to hang over the playerbase as the ultimate challenge.

In Topic: Bloodlust in the Borderlands

17 September 2013 - 05:03 AM

I don't know about this, the orb mechanic was bad not because of close wvw match-ups but because of slightly lopsided ones in one server's favor, the server would gain the orbs and thus use that advantage to completely wipe out the other 2 servers. Bloodlust may be different in the sense that it can be more easily reversed but it won't change the fact that a higher server will have more roamers and thus will have more bloodlust. I think this change would be more easily changed to a buff per map to limit it's server-wide effectiveness.

Still we'll see in a few days.
