Every so often I see someone mention the world cleave, as is 'it does not cleave' or 'cleave the mobs down' and I have no idea what they are talking about. Are they just using a generic somewhat obscure word, or is there a specific 'cleave' mechanic in GW2?
I have searched the Wiki and in-game tips etc. but am coming up dry, however, if you search for it in these forums and the official forums, you can see the term is thrown around quite a bit, as if everyone knows what it is.
Is it a specific process or type of damage delivery? Is there a source that explains it?
I would appreciate anyone shedding some light on the topic.

Looking for THE Dungeon Ranger Build
07 May 2013 - 01:16 PM
I want to start running dungeons more now with my lvl 80 Ranger. The prevailing meta for dungeon Rangers seems to be melee beastmaster type builds, however I have found it hard to actually find current builds of that type or good outlines of how to 'work' them.
I want a build that will help change the perception that Rangers are 'meh' in dungeons. I want to provide good support and damage.
I have been playing a Crit Short Bow Ranger build in general PVE and a little WvW, and have been really happy with it.
I recently cobbled together a Ranger build for dungeons and I would appreciate feedback or seeing other recent Ranger dungeon builds.
Build Linky
The gear is all still what I used for the crit build, and due to cost, I am not ready to change it until I feel more confident on what would work best for dungeons. I have a zerker set of armor and an armageggon karma set which is currently equipped. My accessories are a real mix, and I was not really sure how to pick the right items in the build editor. (I got all my ascended stuff via daily laurels, my fractal level is only 5.)
In a nutshell it uses 0/0/15/25/30, with sword/horn and shortbow. Util skills are zepher, frost, guard and rampage. Key traits are: Natural healing, Shout Mastery, Compassion Training, Spriitual Knowledge, Concentration Training, and Expertise Training.
For pets I am running a River Drake for confusion and blast finisher, and a Red Moa for the group fury buff. I am still learning the best way to coordinate the fury buff with Call of the Wild for the group, and Rampage for my pet and I.
I am also still learning how to use the Sword/Horn as my primary weapon set. It does have a bit of learning curve because movement can be random or restricted at times. Any tips in this area would be appreciated.
I look forward to your comments, suggestions, builds etc.

The GW2 Dungeon Ninja Cheat Sheet
22 March 2013 - 06:31 PM
Is there an existing GW2 Dungeon cheat sheet, if so please provide a link, if not, well, lets start one.
Each one of GW2's dungeons have a gimmick that once you know it, make beating it trivial.
Can you sum up each dungeon and the major paths in one line per boss?
Suggested format:
Dungeon Mode/Path Boss Gimmick
Fire away dungeon ninjas!

Best Pets for Specific Foes
10 March 2013 - 08:17 PM
I thought it might be useful to list which pets are very good against certain types of foes or in certain types of situations, so I will start things up by listing a few I know of:
Canines - Their knock-downs/immobilize work well against Risen who tend to run quickly directly to you if not prevented.
Spiders - Their immobilize is ranged so they work well when you want to keep a champion away from you while you pew pew from a distance.
Devourers - When ranged is the only way to go against a strong foe or boss. If only they had some AI to stay at maximum range from foes.
Birds - Their swiftness buff is useful when fighting out in open areas where more speed is helpful either avoiding or closing on enemies.
Cats - Their high crit attacks can be useful when you want to quickly bring down trash mobs for things like daily kill counts, daily kill variety, etc.
Moas - If you are trying to solo a small guard the traveling vendor type dynamic event, the Moas can provide group buffs of protection or fury, to help your NPCs survive.
Brown Bear - One more group condition removal is always a good thing.
Stonefish - When you want a underwater tank.
Shark - when you want a fast underwater high damage attacker
Jellyfish - Jellies have blinds and immobilizes that work against multiple foes, so bring the Jelly when you have to face multiple foes at once. Extra bonus, regeneration for itself and allies.
We all are too aware of how badly pets fare in dungeons and against bosses and champions in general, but there are still many other situations where they shine. This post is an attempt to look at the positive side of pets.
Do you have some favorite situations that favor certain pets? Please share.
