In Topic: Poll: Your most-played or "main" character

18 January 2013 - 04:21 PM

My most played and main are different characters.

My most played is a Norn Ranger that is level 80.  I played him a lot while on deployment and leveled to 80 in WvW.

My main is a Sylvari Thief that I play with my wife's Human Engineer.

I have a 3rd character that I typically play on Saturday afternoons or Friday nights with my wife and oldest (of 4 :P) son.  That one is a Charr Elementalist, my wife is a Charr Guardian, my son is a Charr Warrior.

I voted Norn Ranger since it is the one that I played the most, but the poll doesn't represent my play style to much.  I play to many alts.

I seem to recall it took LOTRO awhile before they had a test server, I don't think it is a normal thing to have at game launch.

I will agree that this is something that could be good to have.  I personally do not have the time to play on a test server, and most people I see that play on one a lot tend to not play the game very long.  Once stuff goes live they are bored because they saw it all already.

Yeah, when your movement speed is simply reduced by 70% I don't consider it ice skating, unless you mean those painful first 20 minutes where you're trying to learn it, having a Bambi time standing up and going forward, which were more hellish than fun. :P

It got removed from the game at some point, but for years if you pushed the up arrow and the left or right arrow the the same time you would slide on ice.  You could do this for several seconds before it started to do the walking on ice thing again.  Ice skating was fun, and a lot of people did it in the early days.  That is why my guild always had the Icy Guild Hall.  Ice skating.

RNG is fun, until a certain point. Everyone likes being lucky, nobody complains about not getting lucky, but people will complain about getting unlucky all the time.

Putting some "bias" into RNG based on your number of "failed" attempts would be nice. That way, the chance you'll get lucky will increase every time you're not. It sort of "stops" giant unlucky streaks (nobody likes those).

Not a bad idea.  It is not fun to do something 30 times and be "unlucky", then you see some guy come in and get what you wanted on his first try.  I have found the pure RNG system can hold up groups and guilds.  1 unlucky person not having the correct armor or weapon can make an entire group have to keep running the same stuff over and over.  Not fun at all.
