#2080030 Anyone finding low level areas sparsely populated?

Yeah this is what I said few days ago in regards to dislikes about pve, that if theres no people you can't do any of the content other then hearts.  I had some jagoff babbling about how you can solo all the content to disagree with me.  Not to prove my point, because I'm right, but I made a thief alt and the first event outside the charr citadel was defending this area.  Up to 3 charr flame guys would spawn and being the only player present the npc dropped like a sack of potatoes and I got downed.  The even was undoable.

There will always be exceptional players who claim (or are actually able) to solo a large amount of content, solo champs, group events etc. The same people may have an ego the size of the moon.

The point however is, that just because an exceptional player can solo content doesn't mean that everyone else should be expected to do the same. Just because we can solo three veterans and complete the event by ourselves doesn't necessarily make it fun. If I were a new player rocking up to GW2 and finding absolute ghost towns everywhere, I'd be particularly turned off. I might see an event with a veteran or a champ and attempt to solo it myself, fail miserably and then decide I'll never do that content again. So what are we left with? We do Hearts. That's fine, but we're still missing the events which to me are a good proportion of what this game is about.

I've come across newbies in this game who have never been seen to log on again after getting a toon leveled into the mid-teens. GW2 really shines when there's multiple players around making a concerted effort to do something (with the exception of the friggin' zerg fests, which I do just like a second job after work just because I want the coin/ karma), but a little lack lustre in deserted zones. Anet needs to rework this quick, otherwise new players aren't getting the most friendly of introductions to this game.

Hiya, fellow female gamer.  Here's the thing the think about.  If you walk into a crowded family restaurant are you going to start shouting about how effing hot some guy is at table 5?

I sure hope not.  General chat is a public space filled with a lot of people from a lot of different walks of life. Every single one of these people deserves the same respect as you and everyone else, whether they're 14 or 40.  Keep the swearing and crass jokes to Party & Guild chat.

I think that's all ANet is trying to do.

I dont know of any guy that would be offended by a woman calling the F*ing hot, unless that guy is a complete failure at being a man.

And no child is going to be offended by that, people swear and say much worse all the time. everyday in public, and in the real world not one gets offended nor cares at all.

Ah, yeah, of course.  Because we've never EVER heard of Camp Morningwood before, right?

Kids....
Never heard of Sylvari that are made of wood and born during dawn before? Oh my, all the Morningwood Mesmers are gonna destroy your easily shattered mind!

So, by extension, you must have a rabid distaste for ANet because they are the ones who are actually enforcing their EULA.

A lot of us have decided to come here because, over the 5 years of development and community building, ANet has made a conscious effort to stick to its guns.  In this discussion, that means that when they say they are going to enforce their rules, they mean it.  I happen to like that.

You can find the people that agree to the rules undesireable all you want.  As perplexing and mis-focused as I think you are, you are entitled to your opinion.

Well no. Arena.net doesn't come across like a smug judgemental prick like many here. That is not directed at you.

We are all adults, kids aren't supposed to be playing this game without supervision. I want to be able to decide what views and ideas have value. I don't need or want Arena.net to decide for me. Immature names don't ruin communities. Casual swearing doesn't ruin communities. People like the OP do.

#1854761 2nd day without being able to login. This game is a disappointment

Posted Knuckledust13 on 31 August 2012 - 01:11 PM

I have been helping ANet to test GW2 since the very first alpha and through all the betas and stress tests. The game "launched" is at a much worse state then it was on the last beta. Core features are missing or not working, such as trading post, guilds, parties, overflow, many bugged challenges, mail, WvW (people going invisible when there is many) etc.

This game is a huge disappointment. i was having fun going through PvE even on the broken state of the game, but since yesterday I am not able to login due to their new "email verification" system.

My ISP provides me with dynamic IP address because I cannot afford a static one, and EVERY TIME I try to login it says I need to verify my email and then 5 minutes later a error pops and say the login servers cannot be reached. I cannot even access my account on the website.

The support is awful. My ticket has not been answered in 48 hours and the ticket I sent Saturday regarding a exploit report also still open and unanswered. Their twitter support is even worse, because whoever answers you just points to their absolutely unhelpful FAQ and thats IF they even answer.

This situation is absolutely unpleasant and I can't believe I waited 5 years for this kind of service at launch. You can tell me whatever you want, but this is far from a successful launch despite the huge amount of testing and the even greater amount of inputs we, testers, sent ANet.

Official forums not opened? The only conclusion I can make is they are trying to stop the huge amount of players having errors and bugs of all sorts to have a voice. They have been deleting Reddit bad comments and even facebook and twitter comments for that matter. Disappointment.

I will not stop playing at once, since I paid 80 dollars for this game, but i will give this a good two or three months to see if they put their shit together and start providing quality service and fix the core issues of the game.

Fanboys please contain yourselves and don't rage too much, but this is the true reality of this game.

#1855260 Dungeons ridiculous difficulty.

Posted reanor on 31 August 2012 - 02:40 PM

Some of you people will scratch your heads even after you do dungeons multiple times. They are not just hard. They are insanely hard. There is no strategy you can use. Mobs hit you very very hard. If light armor or medium armor gets aggro - You are dead in two shots. Plus traps, DoTs on you wil certainly kill. Dungeons are also made that way for money sink. Rewards in the end are usually very high. So if you pay 9 silver in Catacombs for repairs thats why you get 10 silver as a part of main reward for completing the dungeon. But completing the dungeon by dieing and running back is not a strategy. Positioning yeah evade red circles etc, but in some cases like ranger traps the spring immediately, DoT you and dmg you. You roll out the circle - ranger finish you with one shot. Or puts a poison on you and you die while waiting on your skills cooldown.

2 shot from a champion wearing full yellow set in dungeon while can easily kill a champion with an add outside the dungeon. Dungeons need to be challenging but not the dumb stupid. Since when trash mobs are so much powerful than the bosses? It just doesn't make sense that trash mobs are so much powerful than the boss itself. But yeah I guess they can upp the boss difficulty now too so that boss could one shot you so that you can rez and come back since its the strategy behind the dungeons - rez, come back, pay the repair bill, rinse and repeat.

maybe you guys werent well specced for damage, back when i did it, we werent that well EQed, but regular mobs died at the right pace. We had a decent amount of Damage focused people though.  Also i think your perception may be a factor, you expect  regular mobs to job quickly, i dont think thats how they designed it, its not a large amount of enemies at once (most of the time) so probably the encounters are designed to be longer.

My guess is you guys were a bit tanky, and so had a more stable, yet boring time of it.

So you are saying Anet decided to change the perception and make the trash mobs actually much stronger than the bosses and then bosses easy as cake? Since when the perception behind the trash mobs is that you have to wipe many times between the key encounters and not during the key encounters that you get chest as a reward from? have you even went into any dungeons yet to talk about it?

#1853593 How to get UNpermabanned (anet)

Posted bhavv on 31 August 2012 - 08:50 AM

What is wrong with buying hundreds of weapons if the person had enough points for them? Sure they can stick them into the mystic forge, and so what? The issue was still 100% Anets fault, the players shouldnt be getting banned because of lazy developers. 3 Betas, and several stress tests and they didnt even fix item prices or the trading post before launch, several stress tests and they are already at full server capacity, whatever.

I expected so much better from Anet, they didnt deliver. I dont even need to mention their broken promises like account wide dyes and mini games do I?

In GW1 players farmed stacks upon stacks of ectos. Did this affect you if you didnt farm any? I dont think it did.
