#2047880 Not 80 yet, but started playing from the start?

Posted Righteous on 28 October 2012 - 10:55 AM

I've been playing since headstart, but I have no character over level 40 yet. Not because I got bored, or reached the "grind" stage yet. But because I'm in it for the long haul and I'm pacing myself as such.

A-net said you're in the end-game from the start, and I set my expectations accordingly. Far from getting bored, I am overwhelmed by how much there is to do in the game. I play  casually - only a few hours on a few days each week. A bit of this, a bit of that, different characters and professions. I try to avoid looking stuff up on wikis or forums. I haven't been in a dungeon yet, I haven't done any PvP yet.

I plan to get years of enjoyment out this game, and so far so good. Kind of backfired a little though, with Halloween. It seems there are places I can't go with my characters,  to even finish Act 2 :-P

They should replace it with the Elaine dance.

It would suit them so much better.

I chose wolf, wolf teaches you the strength in numbers and tells you that you will never be alone, you'll always have a bunch of clones following you, lol

#1733450 What's with this mentality?

Posted Kikinho on 14 August 2012 - 08:57 PM

So Anet just posted this one their Facebook page:

With the release of Guild Wars 2 just around the corner, the community team is heading off to Cologne for gamescom.

If you are attending gamescom from the 15th to 19th of August, why not drop by our booth in Hall 8, enjoy a drink, have a c
hat with the team and fellow fans alike.

To celebrate this we’ll be giving away a special in-game item to those that can tell us the daily password, all you need to do is watch our twitter feed every morning between 8am and 10am during the show. We will announce a (not so) secret password during this time and if you find Aidan, Martin, David, Stephane, Melanie or Ramon and whisper us this password.

We will be giving out a new password every day (beginning Wednesday 15th) don't be late, stock will be limited for each day.

We hope to see you on the show floor! ~RB2

And i got realy suprised of the comments under it. The majority started to complain about how it is unfair because not everyone will get these "special in-game" items. That some people won't be able to appear at gamescom even if they want to.

It seems that nowdays it is just became normal that everyone complains over anything and everything.
Personaly my first thought was that how lucky those people will be who get these items. I doubt anything like "how unfair it is" would have come to my mind at all if i don't read the comments.

These items are "special" because not everyone will be able to obtain it. (Note: this is only a speculation as we don't know what are these items actualy) There is even a chance that we will be able to buy it later with gems/money or simply obtain it in late-game content.

In my opinion this is quite disrespectful towards Anet. With these little gestures they are showing us how they care and love their community.

I was just wondering what is your thoughts about this. Is this the mentality which will be most common in the future and in the game? Or do you think these people are only a minority who just simply give voice to their opinion?

Seeing these kind of comments make me realy sad to be honest, not even mentioning the comments under the "I've just met you, and this is crazy" post Anet posted a few weeks earlier on their FB page.

#1646920 Are we Fanatical, or do we just have a few fanatics in the game?

Posted Awbie on 28 July 2012 - 02:32 PM

Dynamic Events are also "Quests", in a way. A quest is something a hero is doing because he feels it's his duty to help people, or save the land, etc. I don't think you can design a fantasy game without quests, because then the hero would have nothing to do :P

Quest =/= quest. You can have seriously boring quests and very interesting, lively ones. One kind is much more fun than the other, but they're still both quests. I don't see anything wrong at all with saying that GW 2 has quests.

#1606985 Creating characters from books/anime/other games in Guild Wars 2.

Posted Noilandraka on 17 July 2012 - 12:07 PM

I'd love to make Elric of Melnibone (if anyone know him, thumbs up, my friend!)
An albino exiled prince with a soul-stealing sword...  so I can see a warrior or guardian with greatsword, maybe warrior because of "blood" trail some skills have ... and black armor and a thin sword skin for a greatsword(maybe a "vampiric" attribute)

I can see a lot of Legolas(Sylvari) and Aragorn in the game, and also many Gimli Norns, with their complain of "why can't I make my Norn short like a dwarf?" , and I also see myself making Saber from Fate/stay Night, guardian of course with greatsword and sword/focus-shield. And I'll make her if I see there are "dresses" for Heavy armor...

Also, from Clive Barker's ABARAT book series, a Necromancer named Mater Motley with dagger/dagger - staff... unfortunately, we can't make mummy-looking characters... and also for male necromancer, Christopher Carrion...

From a book series The Looking Glass wars, a more dark version of Alice in wonderland(or as I say how Tim Burton SHOULD have made Alice in Wonderland) we have the Mad Hatter, an elite assasin, se we go for thief with dagger/dagger and Alice as Mesmer, because her weapon is imagination...

Other characters I like can't be implemented in the GW2 universe..yet... we'll see what will happen with future expansions...

And apparently plant turrets:

#1580356 What do you think will be the "most wanted" profession for groups?

Posted Eagerguilder on 07 July 2012 - 08:04 PM

If anet designed their game correctly there shouldn't be any required profession to complete any explorable dungeon.

I think it would take some serious wordplay to state there's a better support class than the guardian at this point.

I wouldn't say there was a better healing profession but I would say there are professions that are on-par with the support role.
