What is the most efficient way of using fractal relics, obtaining AR, and leveling in F...

24 December 2012 - 10:51 PM

I was wondering what the most efficient way of leveling in FotM and obtaining agony resistance gear. Should I buy the simple infusions and infuse my rings that I got at level 10, or should I wait till level 20 and get those infused rings first? Do I infuse my rings or get the prototype backpiece first? I don't want to waste fractal relics if I can help it, and at the same time I do not want to become detrimental to my group by having no AR if it will negatively affect my performance.

What to do with the boosts from BLCs?

Anything more useful besides using the boosts from the black lion chests? Doesn't look like there are going to be mystic forge recipes this time around.

CPU and GPU usage less than 99%, but still get < 60 FPS?

27 August 2012 - 08:09 PM

This isn't really a problem, so I hope this isn't the wrong forum. I just have a question out of curiosity.

I have a 3570k stock clock and a 7850 with a mild factory OC. I use AMD system monitor on my secondary monitor while playing to see usage of CPU and GPU. I've also used the task manager to see CPU usage and the results are similar. When I experience a dip in FPS in WVW, the CPU and GPU usage is only around 60%. I have never seen the CPU usage at anything over 77%, and GPU is usually at 80-90%.

With my old computer, which had a mildly overclocked E8400 at 3.4ghz, when the FPS tanks in WVW it's because the CPU usage is at 99-100%.

I'm pretty sure the CPU is the bottleneck, as I've lowered resolutions in an area with 50 FPS and GPU usage drops but I still only get 50FPS. What I don't understand is, why aren't these CPU monitoring tools reporting usage correctly?

Clock Option in BWE3, Server and Local time

22 July 2012 - 03:03 PM

There's now a clock you can turn on in the options, and you can pick server time or local time. If you guys can, please post the server you're on and the timezone that server is in. I think it might be a good reference for release if for some reason Anet doesn't state the timezone of the server on the list, and they keep the names of the servers intact for the same servers as BWE3.

I'm also going to post a suggestion on the beta forums asking them to include the server timezone in the list of servers at launch.

I'll start.
