In Topic: Most rewarding profession when played right?

Lol @ you mate honestly. The fact that you can make a macro in WoW means nothing in terms of how complex a playstyle of a certain class is. Before there were macro's like those there were strict pve rotations and it was very easy to distinguish a bad dps from a good one(somewhat thanks to recounts and other parsers)

The momment there is an strict way one class has to be played COMPLEXITY is out of the question. Someone might have solved the complex question "what is the rightest way to play class A??" The rest just read the answer to that question and trained themselves to do it propperly like good monkeys.

most pve-related content in gw2 can be facerolled with just auto attacking.

Yes it's easy, becuase GW2 is truly complex so most of us would simply suck at it if it offfered a true degree of difficulty. Real life combat isn't about spreadsheets, equations and optimal theoretical solutions, it is about preplaning sure, but mostly about execution (timing and proper tactical fast thinking) this is what GW2 attemted to do and it succeeds in doing so. You (and I sometimes) might prefer the comfortable spreadsheet-uber-plan-to-beat-them-all-anytime, the sad reality is that no plan will survive contact with the enemy; This is so true in PVP, but even in PvE it bears quite a lot of truth since "aggro" in GW is unpredictable, but I am sure that makes GW more simple than WoW in your eyes ... well we just have antonimous definitions of complexity.

In Topic: How important is 3 extra initiative (Preparedness) to you?

06 April 2013 - 06:01 PM

Preparedness is great for burst damage but won't add much to sustained damage, as the fight lengthens +3 initial initiative matter less and less. From this is pretty obvious:

Very good for PvP, more initiative means more hearth seekers or whatever you are spaming :P
Good for general maps PVE, regular mobs die fast so you can burst them down which is kinda usefull.
Poor for dungeons: Solo bursting a silver mob is not gonna happen :P The fight will take long. I would only take it if you plan on using some of the initiative expensive combos, like P/P skill 4 followed by 3, those +3 init will make it easier to pull it off without leaving you spent.

In Topic: Does this game favor ranged professions?

16 February 2013 - 02:21 AM

I honestly think the premise of this topic is absolutelly wrong. If anything it is the other way around. The only advantage range has over mele is it has more survivability and with some classes larger AoE wich ends up being largely irrelevant anyway. But DPS speaking, which is what matters the most in this game, even eles go "mele" if they want to hit the big numbers.

In Topic: Legendary Weapon - I can't decide if I really want one. Do you?

16 February 2013 - 02:12 AM

I got obsidian armor in GW1 after 4 years of having fun and actively unfarming ectos. I can proudly state I never farmed underworld, not once!! This is how much I want a legendary, when I have the resources for it and nothing else to spend them for I will buy it.
