#2226872 Aetherblades = Alternate Universe?

Posted Yski on 16 August 2013 - 04:57 AM

The poem is also VERY similar to one heard in Doctor who:

Tick tock goes the clock
And what now shall we play?
Tick tock goes the clock
Now summer’s gone away?

Tick tock goes the clock
And what then shall we see?
Tick tock until the day
That thou shalt marry me

Tick tock goes the clock
And all the years they fly
Tick tock and all too soon
You and I must die

Tick tock goes the clock
We laughed at fate and mourned her
Tick tock goes the clock
Even for the Doctor

Tick tock goes the clock
He cradled her and he rocked her
Tick tock goes the clock
Even for the Doctor…

It has to do with River Song, and a few spoilers from season 7, but I doubt the specifics are important here. What does matter, however, is the fact our gw2 poem seems a little too close to this to be just a coincidence.

True enough, we can only hope they throw in something new. Anyway, next living story, the hole in Divinity's Reach is being filled with a glass Hawk and Braham and Rox are getting involved. Hopefully something interesting will happen.

Canthan District retcon 2013. Never forget.

More on topic: Queen Jennah has mecha guards. I, Robot anyone?

they all look like crap imo.

Initially, I thought the same thing, however I encourage you to try and preview and dye them yourself to see if you can't find some beauty in them.  If you've already done this then nevermind :P.  Also, I'm excited for this Dwayna inspired look:

#2212459 The Next Living Story.

I'm not convinced on that, actually. Lightning going everywhere is a steampunk theme (steampunk being set in a time when electricity was known but not well known, and the power of lightning could potentially do ANYTHING!!! - kind of like the radiation and the various treknobabble particles last century) while flinging water around isn't really a steampunk trope.

I suspect it still is a case of sky pirates because another steampunk trope can basically be summed up as 'why sail when you can take an airship', but I don't think it's a case of using lightning because it's air-oriented so much as using lightning because electricity is their shiny new toy that is powering all their wundertech.

The outcome doesn't really surprise me, in fact I think it's a good thing they're making money. But I agree that the content so far doesn't justify the spendage.

For the Dragon Bash... yeah, that's quite likely. The Dragon Festival has a history of someone invading during it, and minions of the DSD do seem like they would make fitting invaders.
Interestingly, there's a mention of a surprise, Iirc, for the effigy lighting ceremony on the 17th. I suspect that there'll be an invasion or rebellion of sorts then.

#2208056 The soundtrack as a lore source?

Posted Konig Des Todes on 30 May 2013 - 09:32 PM

I don't think it's been confirmed that Fear Not This Night is an in-universe song, actually.

It's sung from the perspective of the Pale Tree, by the Pale Tree's voice actress, but I don't think there was ever mention that the Pale Tree herself is singing it in lore.

There isn't enough endgame or titles to work for.. there just isn't.. By trying to be special and trying to eliminate the grind anet kind of messed this one up.

#2203123 Sclerite! (Speculations?)

Posted Saul Spotter on 17 May 2013 - 07:17 PM

My guess, Sclerite are some type of parasite.  Hence why they can form into the shape of weapons.  The Karka we've known and loved this whole time were some other species that's just been infected with Sclerite long ago.  Also, the Sclerite is the underwater dragon.  A colonial organism like the Portuguese man o' war.  They attach themselves to various creatures and become part of Bubbles.

Wouldn't it be great if when you had gotten to his corpse, there was a little pop-up on the right side of your screen that said "F: Loot"?

#2191533 Why does XP suck unless you do Hearts or DE's?

Why would a bot care about gaining XP? I thought they were about gaining MATS and GOLD?

Because then they can go to higher level areas in order to farm them for money with less hassle.

Anyway, as for why mobs don't give great xp, trash mobs are the easiest thing to kill, with the least amount of thought to doing so... and there are areas of the game (some de's for instance have tons of mobs spawn at once, and more so when they scale up) where mobs are thick so aoe farming makes it so you kill a LOT in a small amount of time.  If mobs gave a lot of xp people would avoid de's with champs and difficult areas where you don't want to aggro everything at once.

Yes, there are areas people farm now, and other areas they avoid... but that can be solved by adding more des and decreasing their activation times (which I'm fully for) not by making mob farming more effective.  I'd rather not have the preferred way of leveling be to sit in one spot and kill things as they respawn for several levels and then move on to a new area.  This is also why most games have quests which give players several times more xp than they could get in the same amount of time by farming mobs.  DE's are the replacement of quests, so it would stand to reason that they'll give much better xp.

As for hearts, eh I don't really like them.  If mapping every zone was like mapping orr I'd enjoy doing it a lot more.  I wish they could figure out a better way of implementing those.  Though the issues with those are much less pronounced in DE heavy areas where said DE's help fill hearts.  So maybe if they increased the density/recharge of DEs I'd no longer have issues with them at all.
