First legit gaming PC? (Buy vs Build)

05 May 2013 - 07:52 PM

I'm currently playing on an Asus laptop that's almost two years old - it's put up with some major abuse due to the amount of time I spend on it for school and gaming. I struggle to run WvW even on auto-detect settings (which are all low-medium). I play games ranging from browser-based games to GW2, WoW, LoL, etc etc.

I'm currently looking at the Asus Essentio with 12GB Memory and a 1TB hard drive. It's within my price range (preferably $600 but maybe up to $700 if it's worth the money - I need it to last as long as possible). However, I've heard a lot of iffy stuff about AMD's CPUs and from experience, I think I prefer Intel.

There's an identical computer with an Intel i5 CPU and 6 GB memory that's somehow more expensive, and the memory is upgradeable.

How do the two compare to each other and other machines out there currently?

I've been looking around (with effort) for basically a day, and those were two that I was familiar with. I'm willing to look at basically anything that's good for gaming and hours of use and anywhere from $600 to roughly $700.

I'd love to build a PC, although I need help with specific products and such to look for. I've been told that parts often don't work, is there anything I should look for when buying them online to make sure I would be able to return them for a) a functioning part or, b ) my money to buy another one?

[Answered] Is there a use for achievement points?

27 February 2013 - 03:44 AM

So this is an extremely lame question and I'm completely spacing - I feel like I should know this.

Is there any use for achievement points or are they still useless, even with laurels? I haven't paid too much attention to that end of things, I've just been grinding away for my precious Chauncey.

[Answered] High-definition screenshots

23 January 2013 - 12:02 AM

So I did try searching a bit, although nothing really turned up. A while ago I heard something about taking "HD" screenshots, the ones with either max graphics or beyond max graphics. Buuut, I have no idea how to do this. It came up again recently. Is it even possible to take these "hyper-screenshots" or did I just hear rumors?

Denravis Never Die! New Community Website!

18 September 2012 - 12:06 AM

Soo... I've never actually written any sort of forum post like this, so here goes!

I hail from the Henge of Denravi server and found that we were lacking a central community hub. Sure, we have a strong presence in WvW and our actual in-game community is awesome. But, there wasn't anything else!

A few days ago I was on map chat talking about a few things, and someone said something fairly awesome. Denravis never die! So, I then had the idea to make a community website!

So after being extremely lazy about putting a few things up around the site, I present to you:

Denravis Never Die!

There are private forums which can be accessed once I make sure you're actually on the HOD server (you get a shiny tag). As soon as people apply that seem like a good fit, there will be articles and blogs about GW2!

Currently, there are a few days left on the free premium, then the site looks that much more boring! I also have no programming experience (at least not enough to entirely write/design an entirely new website), so I could use help with that, too!

Anyone is welcome to register, and I'd love to see some HOD faces, too! :)

(posting this here so it can be moved! ^^)

Has anyone found the Manifesto dragon?

15 September 2012 - 06:25 PM

It's old, but you can see it here.

It looks at least somewhat similar to what's in Drakkar Lake in GW1, but has anyone found it yet? Or is it just a horrible teaser for a future expansion that isn't even in the game yet?
