Have they announced they business model yet?  I refuse to look into this game at all until I know what they are looking in doing in terms of Non-Sub, Sub, Free to Play, Buy to Play.. I just need to know before I get excited haha.
That's the only thing I'm really nervous about for this game. I don't really want to fork out $15 a month on it. Buy to play would be totally fine, so long as they don't let that ruin the game.

Who would buy an expansion with the current problems ongoing in this game? I'm sure there would be a few... But most aren't going to fork up 50$ - 60$ for an expansion. Problems Anet has been promising to fix long before release, but aren't delivering to the community...
I would consider paying for an expansion depending on what they plan on including in it. I probably wouldn't buy one for a few months, and those few months would have to consist of quality, playable content. May's updates have actually been better (imho) than past updates, so I'm hoping that ANet will continue to improve.

Months ago, I royally geeked out when the map of the world was found in the beta files. The world is gargantuan and they have so much lore from the first game at their fingertips. ANet has loads of lore that can be tapped into and fussed with that people might actually be interested in. There are tons of great things that they can do with sPvP and WvW outside of adding new maps. It's entirely possible for them to release a really awesome expansion. Granted, I don't think they could really handle one at this point in time, but I don't think it's fair to lose all hope in them.

I personally am a huge supporter of the "Bubbles is Coming" theory. As I've scattered across other threads, the resort on Southsun Cove gives us a beautiful view of Bubbles' current assumed abode (aka, the ocean). Because of the Dragon Bash, I feel like we might end up seeing a minion of Bubbles that we end up, well, bashing. Crucible of Eternity hints at some large, aquatic test subject... and I feel like that's how we'll end up being introduced to Bubbles/etc.

I can't quote the whole post but you nailed everything precisely how I feel about GW2 right now. I'm disappointed in the devs because the game has such potential and they're going totally the opposite direction as I feel they should. I also feel like instead of listening to the core audience about what they want, ANet is trying to tell them what they want, or SHOULD want in their opinion.

Pushing the living story and emphasis on RNG gemstore are in my mind two biggest flaws right now, in the big picture it's the fact that game is lacking many of the great features that made GW1 good. But after seeing that quote by the devs that if we liked GW1, we should play GW1 is making me kind of worried.

To sum my feelings up: I waited for years for this game, I read all the previews, I was excited, I love the lore. But now that we have it I'm .. not burned out, but thinking: is this it? It's so much NOT what it could be. I don't know how I can put it into words. Lacking, maybe?
It's not like the gem store is even worth pumping money into, in my opinion. I bought a couple character slots, the broom, and some cosmetics, but I regret buying the cosmetics. I don't really feel like supporting the game much until the content really starts to get interesting.

I only found out about GW2 the December before it was released. I was playing LOTRO at the time and was so excited after the June stress test I could barely spend any time on it anymore. ANet (or NCSoft) is starting to improve the living story and monthly updates a bit. I enjoyed this month much more than the last... multiple... but they have so far to go. All of the manifestos and press videos/releases/statements they made about the game created so much hype for so little game.

Going to post an early reminder for everyone to make sure this does discuss the lore of the game. Oftentimes, these discussions end up turning into "political" debates. Starting off great, though!!

I personally think we're going to see Bubbles. The entire resort on Southsun Cove has an impeccable view of the ocean. So long as our characters have some mega shields or gigantic weapons, and some popcorn, we have the best prospective view of a gigantic Elder Dragon launching itself out of the sea.

Though, I think we're more likely to see a minion of Bubbles than Bubbles himself. We apparently have a "Dragon Bash" type party event coming up, which makes me think it'll be a smaller dragon we'll interact with. This might end up being a minion that we [hopefully] defeat and then end up researching.
