#2211482 The Gem Store Survey In Five Seconds - The Statistical Conclusion

Posted Swoopeh on 14 June 2013 - 08:09 PM

The outcome doesn't really surprise me, in fact I think it's a good thing they're making money. But I agree that the content so far doesn't justify the spendage.

For the Dragon Bash... yeah, that's quite likely. The Dragon Festival has a history of someone invading during it, and minions of the DSD do seem like they would make fitting invaders.
Interestingly, there's a mention of a surprise, Iirc, for the effigy lighting ceremony on the 17th. I suspect that there'll be an invasion or rebellion of sorts then.

#2208056 The soundtrack as a lore source?

Posted Konig Des Todes on 30 May 2013 - 09:32 PM

I don't think it's been confirmed that Fear Not This Night is an in-universe song, actually.

It's sung from the perspective of the Pale Tree, by the Pale Tree's voice actress, but I don't think there was ever mention that the Pale Tree herself is singing it in lore.

There isn't enough endgame or titles to work for.. there just isn't.. By trying to be special and trying to eliminate the grind anet kind of messed this one up.

#2203123 Sclerite! (Speculations?)

Posted Saul Spotter on 17 May 2013 - 07:17 PM

My guess, Sclerite are some type of parasite.  Hence why they can form into the shape of weapons.  The Karka we've known and loved this whole time were some other species that's just been infected with Sclerite long ago.  Also, the Sclerite is the underwater dragon.  A colonial organism like the Portuguese man o' war.  They attach themselves to various creatures and become part of Bubbles.

Wouldn't it be great if when you had gotten to his corpse, there was a little pop-up on the right side of your screen that said "F: Loot"?

#2191533 Why does XP suck unless you do Hearts or DE's?

Why would a bot care about gaining XP? I thought they were about gaining MATS and GOLD?

Because then they can go to higher level areas in order to farm them for money with less hassle.

Anyway, as for why mobs don't give great xp, trash mobs are the easiest thing to kill, with the least amount of thought to doing so... and there are areas of the game (some de's for instance have tons of mobs spawn at once, and more so when they scale up) where mobs are thick so aoe farming makes it so you kill a LOT in a small amount of time.  If mobs gave a lot of xp people would avoid de's with champs and difficult areas where you don't want to aggro everything at once.

Yes, there are areas people farm now, and other areas they avoid... but that can be solved by adding more des and decreasing their activation times (which I'm fully for) not by making mob farming more effective.  I'd rather not have the preferred way of leveling be to sit in one spot and kill things as they respawn for several levels and then move on to a new area.  This is also why most games have quests which give players several times more xp than they could get in the same amount of time by farming mobs.  DE's are the replacement of quests, so it would stand to reason that they'll give much better xp.

As for hearts, eh I don't really like them.  If mapping every zone was like mapping orr I'd enjoy doing it a lot more.  I wish they could figure out a better way of implementing those.  Though the issues with those are much less pronounced in DE heavy areas where said DE's help fill hearts.  So maybe if they increased the density/recharge of DEs I'd no longer have issues with them at all.

#2185711 The Unseen Ones: A Factual And Speculative Study Of The Mursaat

Posted draxynnic on 30 March 2013 - 03:17 AM

There's a flaw in that claim:

The mursaat during War in Kryta likely didn't have access to the RoF bloodstone. After Hell's Precipice, the volcano exploded - the bloodstone could now be buried in magma or hardened lava, thrown to some other location, or otherwise completely inaccessible.

It's also possible, if the ether towers truly do use pieces of bloodstone, that the mursaat were aware of the location of that bloodstone as well and shipping pieces to where they want to build towers. Another possibility is to consider that before being broken into pieces, the purpose of the original proto-bloodstone was to absorb the world's magic - the 'gift of magic' essentially came from Abaddon figuring out a way to switch the bloodstone from 'suck' to 'blow'. The hypothesised bloodstone component of the towers might be using a property shared by all bloodstone material - the mursaat figured out a way to revert a shard of the bloodstone into 'suck' mode to drain the magic out of its local environment and feed it back into any mursaat and/or ether seals in the area. Considering the history between the mursaat and the seers, it's quite likely that the mursaat had developed enough familiarity with seer magics in order to manipulate it in such fashion.

Sleeveless hoodies? I wonder how long it'll be before we have an overly tanned Asura called "Smooky" or something running around with her gang in the reality theater "Tyria Shore"...

We are think way to hard about this. One event chest per toon per day.  Dont reset it if they move servers.  This way you can still guest to grab an event if its more convenient or if you just missed your servers event.  This would also stop the people that are just doing jormag all day on all servers on one toon.

...It's already one event chest per toon per day.

If you finish Jormag in one server and guest to another server to do Jormag again on the SAME char, you will not get chest reward.

I disagree with your premises and conclusion. I have not seen any impact of guesting on my server. However that's not to say that guesting has not impacted your server. And there is the rub: guesting is working great for many, but not for some of you. So take the matter into your own hands and go guest on another server. Guest on JQ if you want, there are many people doing many events in many zones 24/7. That way you solved your own problem and are not asking Anet to change a big part of the game just for you.
