#2226780 [x-post] The Death of Alts

Posted meltor13 on 15 August 2013 - 08:29 PM

I don't get it. If you enjoy playing the game then having to level up and gear up your alts isn't an issue. Neither is WvW ranks and whatnot. You don't NEED ascended gear on a character and a super high WvW ranking or dungeon armor to have fun....which is what the game is about.

The complaints OP listed are only for people who freak out over not having their characters be completely min/maxed for every situation.

Charmander vs Gangar.... I don't know who to pick. Gangar seems stronger atm, but  Charmander has a lot of potential and room to grow.

#2151189 No overflow in lions arch becoming an issue

Then don't play at those times? Or perhaps make friends in-game who are awake when you are? Again, why is this hard?

And they don't disregard the issue. They outright solve it. Sure, you all need to be in the same instance to run fractals. Why? Probably has something to do with the dungeon being in a city instance rather than in the open world like the others. But that's besides the point.

You plan ahead and all guest on the same server. If it can't be with your "best" friends then why not other people you meet in-game? Or who are in the Guild you're in?

There are so many outside alternatives to consider that I stand by my reasoning that this isn't a problem and that the only REAL problem here is one's inability and/or outright laziness to go out and find some peeps in the world who (DERP) might share his sentiments.

One post on the official forums or even here dictating his timezone, when he would like to play and for how long perhaps and I can almost guarantee he'll get responses from like-minded players with whom he can group up with.

Problem, again, solved.

It's how I found my Guild for example.

Easy as pie.

Actually, it's ironic.

If so many people find this to be a problem, then maybe those people should just guest together on the same server for a day.

The supposed "issue", simply by existing, evolves into a "solution." lmao

And i'll flip my desk if this thread suddenly becomes a soapbox for entitled users whining that they shouldn't have to go out of their way to find a group to play with.

At that point I'll leave to go find my 2 year old nephew's binky cuz SOMEONE'S gonna need it. He'll cry, but it's for a good cause.

You are not even getting the point of this topic and are too busy arguing about your inability to think bigger picture and see thing from many angles than your singular and narrow view point of..."quit whining and do what i tell you" attitude....

It's not about server population, its not about timezones, its not about group with friends or not, it's not etc etc....we were all talking in hypothetical examples to explain our points of view.

Fact is no matter what crap you decide to spew out to try to backup your pointless argument...

Right now IF and it does happen IF there is no overflow in lions arch FACT you are unable to play with other players from other servers in fractals, that is a design flaw...

You do not seem to acknowledge this and try to push all the blame on the players...instead of the design mechanic causing the issue...

Are there work arounds? Yes, are there temp fixes? yes as has been said oh I dunno about 20 times now in this topic?

Yet you still choose to take the pig headed arrogant approach of long windedly saying " stfu whining qq newb and dont play at weird times and make some freinds loser!!!111!! its your fault there is an issue not the game....."

Dude seriously gtfo this thread....your clueless....it has NOTHING to do with lack of finding groups or timezones at the end of the day, it has to do with the game mechanics with fractals stopping some players from playing with other players....whether it be at 9pm, 9am in tim buk *ing tu or new york, with a zillion friends or no friends or any other cock eyes bullshit you want to spew out of your brain next....

If you still don't get it...then just grow a brain...your turning a general topic about a game design flaw and issue some players are experiencing into a personal attack about one person....

It has * all to do with me specifically....its an issue that can potentially effect all players...douche bag...

#2122416 Present Etiquette - snatch and run?

Posted matsif on 18 December 2012 - 11:26 PM

I always try to clear the mobs as well, but half the time someone is watching for you to pop the present to go snatch the rest in there while you have full aggro of the mob, making it not worth it overall.

I've gotten enough of them just doing the wintersday dungeon to get the monthly anyways, so I just avoid them anymore.

Personally, when I hit level 42 back then, I entered catacombs with another player of the same level. We assumed that a level 30 dungeon story mode can be done by our levels since arena net did mention that story mode would be easier to tackle.

Unfortunately we died so many times killing the first couple of foes despite kiting strafing dodging and knock downs, it just didn't work. Foe damage was really high, speed was really fast, we were totally annilated. From then on even now that I am level 70+ closing to 80, I dread going to attempt it again.

In my opinion, they should let the personal story mode be easier so that one can solo or go in as a pair and only heighten up the difficulty in explorable mode.

It's really just a matter of coordination and learning the fights. My guild and I did AC story mode with all 30's with a number of deaths the first time. But each run became easier and easier. We completed our first run of AC exploration mode with 2 Level 31's. We have since completed all AC paths, and two CM paths all under level 50.

I personally find the challenge refreshing. Afterwards I felt that everyone that participated came out a better player. Another thing is people want to go in with crappy builds and expect to profit. We regularly changed up builds and weapon layouts throughout the dungeon as we looked for the best way to handle each encounter. Its something I find that most players aren't willing to do. Anet gives you all those traits and weapons not so you can just magically Frankenstein some stuff together, but so that you can have tools for any job. It's not a bad thing for your Thief to bust out Scorpion Wire and a shortbow, if that's whats needed...then just do it? I carry every weapon on my Guardian because sometimes my greatsword isn't the right tool for the job, a mace and torch is, or a staff for support.

If your not rolling in a guild then I do feel a bit bad for you. But these dungeons are delicious for any sort of organized group that normally sleep wakes through dungeons and raids.

I personally don't have a problem with xp, however I think an increase in monster xp is an excellent idea. It can only benefit everyone who plays GW2, myself included.

Absolutely not!  I think rewarding people for grinding is a horrible idea.  They put all this work into DEs; reward people for doing DEs.

As far as events in general go, I always feel like there aren't enough happening. I can run through three heart zones and find no events running, some areas feel really boring or painful simply because of a lack of events. I know they don't want it to be too repetative, but once a heart has been filled and you've done your exploring, do they really want us to just sit there grinding mobs while we wait for something to spawn? I really hope that's not their design intention/goals.

You just explained why you were having a problem. You said "you can run through three heart zones...". Did you just run through and expect something to fall out of the sky and level you?  Or did you stop and talk to NPCs? Interact with things?

The whole levelling situations makes me worry that the game lacks content, so players need to be forced to experience EVERYTHING the game offers. I honestly do not see why a player shouldn't be allowed to experience 1/3 of the area and move onto the next one otherwise.

They can.  Many did.  How do you explain it?

Hey guys, on a related topic, I want to play World of Warcraft but I'm not interested in doing quests. However I'm finding leveling to be extremely slow. What can I do to level faster, and remember I don't want to do quests...
