I made this same thread just now in the main forums, but those will be gone tomorrow so I decided to make a thread here as well.



I need help/advice on what other players did to target enemy players in sPvP. This may be something that needs to be fixed or something I just need to do differently if I'm missing something.



Against any enemy that could have multiple NPCs with them, I had a *very* hard time targeting them. So like vs a Ranger with a lot of Spirits and their pet, or a Necro with all of their minions, or a Mesmer with all their clones.

I would be at a point fighting or something and one of those professions would come up and my first instinct is to TAB target. It literally never failed that the very LAST enemy that came up on my screen was the actual player. I would be at half health before I could even target the player sometimes. I tried just clicking on them, but that proved very difficult as well. If any of the NPCs were in front it wouldn't work and the fact that we were both moving around and dodging made it nearly impossible to do that reliably.

Targeting an enemy is SO vital in sPvP for your overall effectiveness. If you can't target them you can't do damage (directly, AoE kind of works). Making a player unable to target you is more effective than any stats or skills you could use.



So my suggestion would be (if it doesn't already exist and I just don't know about it) would be for TAB to only target players and if you want to attack an NPC then you click on it (or have a different button for them). Or possibly when you TAB target it ALWAYS chooses the player first. The problem that would arise is ofc with the Mesmer. You aren't supposed to be able to pick them out right away. This is a problem I don't know how to fix. They can do so much damage and spawn illusions and stuff so often that killing them with anything but AoE proved quite challenging (especially since I mainly played single target professions/builds on Warrior and Thief). Once they go invisible I lose the 10 seconds of work that I previous had at just trying to target them. With Thieves, we don't have so many NPC's (consistently) that can make the targeting hard when we stealth.



This was easily the most frustrating thing I have dealt with in the game. It so annoying that I almost wanted to stop playing at one point.
