The Banner Saga is a tactical turn based strategy game with a painstakingly animated viking setting. Teams of 6 are pitted against eachother in small map combat.
What makes this one different from all the others? Your Strength is your damage and your life. THe more you take the less you do. You also have armor which reduces damage done to your Strength and if it's higher the opponent has a chance to miss. These very simple mechanics gives a huge ammount of depth. In addition turns are alternating with a specific order you set up before hand. Should one of your units fall it simply cuts that person out and the turns still alternate making it less good to dog pile onto a unit.
And, it's F2P. Don't run yet, I promise it isn't bad at all. Matchmaking is based primarily on the level of your units first and then ELO. So, if you buy the in game currency all you're going to do is face people of equal power and possibly more experience. Other than units/currency there are a few skins for the classes, but nothing special.
A couple of guys from IGN playing. I really suggest that you guys give this one a spin if you like tactical turn based games or PvP. It looks amazing and plays well. At the moment my biggest complaint is a lack of variation with the maps/scenarios and the servers are iffy at the moment.
