Our built in evades aren't that good compared to other classes?

#2200140 The Temple of Lyssa Exploit - License to Troll!

Posted Kaaboose on 09 May 2013 - 12:50 AM

As I’m sure some of you are awear there is an event in the Temple of Lyssa that has become a popular farming exploit.
This exploit is now preventing players from finishing one of the few, well designed and balanced (Save for a few tweaks) events in GW2.
I’d like to put out a call to all my fellow GW2 players to put an end to this by completing the event. You’ll be doing your part for the community to keep inflation down, and you’ll be trolling a bunch of farmers at the same time.
Best of all you’ll get to experiance one of the better challenges GW2 has to offer.
For more details on how to do stop this farm, and on the lyssa event itself, check out this video guide here:

Thanks again guys, See you in game.

#2194658 Details on Upcoming Custom Arenas & Spectator Mode

You can't really make a lot of gold from playing only pvp which is what I mostly do these days... So if the fee is high a lot of players that only pvp won't have the chance to buy the cash shop stuff

Confusion needs to be adjusted between modes more than any individual skills really.

#2188420 misogyny in GW2

What an a ss hole!

I'm glad you feel that way. It's good to have opinions. But making a whinge thread simply because someone said something you didn't like isn't going to help anything. It's only going to incite those trolls to continue their beratement. If it matters that much to you, leave your guild, join another one, and don't tell anyone your gender. I don't see why you would in the first place, knowing the risk of getting these comments, unless you're simply looking to start drama.

My guild has at least three known female players in it, and none of them get any sort of misogynist comments. Perhaps you've joined a guild of 12 year old boys who can't control themselves enough to be respectful towards others. CHANGE THE ENVIRONMENT. Posting a thread on guru isn't going to do that. especially when in the process you're saying you can beat them up (in-game). You're obviously angry, trolls out there know this, and will take advantage.

#2178648 Has 'Guild Wars 2' Become Too Complicated? | Forbes

I love this quote:

We didn’t want to get into a gear-grind scenario, so what we did was add a new tier rarity called “Ascended items.” We wanted to add a step in there to insure that people had a lot to do.

Mind = Blown.

#2163882 Downed movement skills needs to be nerfed

Balanced, nope.

Balanced for downed skills would be all #2 down skills for all professions can be prevented or all downed skills for all professions cannot prevented at all. No certain profession should be excluded. If the latter is used, Necromancer's fear, Ranger's daze, Warrior's hammerthrow, guardian's knockback, etc... should bypass stability and invulnerability in order to balance with Mesmer teleport, thieves shadowstep, ele invulnerability and movement or we can nerf the mesmer teleport/thieves shadow step, ele invulnerability by if they are inflicited with snares, their #2 downed skills get hindered. I prefer the former, where all profession's #2 downed skills can be prevented.

There is no skill that can make downing elementalist/Thieves/mesmers smooth. There are skills to make downing warriors/guardian/etc smooth via stability.

Thieves are actually easy (if they stealth they stay in place so just melee), If they teleport just use a teleport ability while doing your stomp....Wait? Not all classes get teleport do they? Well not all classes get stability either. There are counters in the game if you have them or not is another story

#2170347 Why so underutilized?

Posted Falfyrel on 25 February 2013 - 07:00 PM

The main issue about Necro survivability is that even though they have massive HP pools and DS, meaning they can soak up damage like nothing else, they have next to no damage avoidance. We have no Vigor; we have no sources of invuln, blocking, or evading attacks. So that puts us in a very weird place where we can survive extremely well against consistent damage over time, but we have zero tools to survive burst other than sacrificing Death Shroud and hoping that's enough. Compare this to the Guardian, who can easily have upwards of 7 seconds of almost unstoppable invuln with shield/Renewed Focus/Shelter alone.

That combined with our very low mobility and our lack of good teleports (Spectral Walk leaves behind a gigantic glowing green trail and Flesh Wurm is extremely situational and requires setup beforehand) means that the class is oftentimes clunky to play in PvE when facing hard-hitting bosses like Subject Alpha, and can be frustrating in WvW due to the lack of an ability to flee from bad circumstances.

Plague Form is awesome and I still love my necro to death, but some people just can't handle the class because the class has very little ability to mitigate a loss or survive extremely sudden deaths via burst.

#2165967 Should the cap have been level 20?

Posted XPhiler on 18 February 2013 - 02:58 PM

I think the fact people are complaining about leveling is perfect proof why leveling up to 80 was essential.

Leveling is there to slow down players and prevent them from skipping too much content in pursuit of higher rewards. If there were no levels it would have been up to the players to go through that content and regulate their own pace and clearly some people are just not able to do that.

As someone who doesnt care about levels and just plays to enjoy the content rather then to get to max level I can tell you that by playing only one zone of each level tier (IE a single 1 ~ 15 zone, a single 15 ~ 30 zone etc...) I hit level 80 by the time I started level 60 content. That means excluding 4x extra level 1 ~ 15 zones, 4x 15 - 30 zones and 3x 30 ~ 60 zones that needless to say would have been enough to level to 80 4 - 5 more times.

Also I am not sure how having 16 zones all level 20 would have changed anything in terms of stated concerns. If you're a player who only care about the highest rewards you're going to play content that has the highest rewards. No amount of balance can ensure every single zone has exactly the same reward level or not. Thats why even though people hated the undead, the majority of the playerbase before FoTM stuck with orr and very few played in Frostgorge sound even though they're all max level zones. Ask yourself this. The Arid Sea zone was a level 20 zone in gw1. How many of you regularly played there?

In my opinion Leveling is a problem when it keeps you from content.
If you played all there is in a level 1 - 15 zone and you still are far off from reach level 15 then level is a problem.

Leveling is a problem when it introduces power creep.
If by the time I reach max level I have no were to discover, no content to do and no reward to be gotten on any zone below my level then thats a problem

Gw2 doesnt have any of these issues but it surely does seem to have players that all they seem interested about is getting the best rewards in the quickest time possible. So personally I vote that level 80 was a good choice anyhow short of gw1 it still has the fastest time to max level compared with any other MMO I have played. Not just that but it also has the most abundant amount of content per level by far.

#2132490 Good looking Charrs?

Posted TeiDigs on 31 December 2012 - 10:44 PM

I've been told that I have just about the best looking charr in the game.  I believe it more and more every time I see other charr.  I think it's just that this one looks distinct with the relatively underused fur colors and doesn't look crazy, clearly female and not extremely ugly or cute looking.  Naturally, I have other charr, but this ele is the best one.

It's true that most people pick the cutest face, and make the fur color white

I've made it my personal mission to hunt down every white charr I spot in WvW.

Compare with any other race the leggings are short and the helmet just looks stretched out. Which imo ruins the whole thing.

This is why I only use archon leggings and helms.  Everything else has tail clipping, looks bad or would clash with most other armor.  Charr light armor is in a very pitiful state.

Actually, as a followup question, if you AND an enemy are in Feedback, what happens? I think it will actually hit you, but I'm not sure.

I'll test this out now too, I don't think I've ever been in that scenario.

EDIT: If you are both inside the Feedback bubble, the projectiles will still be reflected.
