#1969488 This is going to sound terribly dumb in this sea of posts...

...but could someone explain to me how the match-ups and rotations and such work?

This is my second day over the course of a week trying this.  It's fun, I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm losing a lot of money, but I'll figure out how to balance that out eventually. :)

What I don't understand is the timing of some things.

1. How often do they change sides?  Will a server eventually be matched up with 2 other servers because those 3 servers are the best?  Or all they 'always' shuffling them?

2. There's the 3 server borderlands, and the EB.  Is a given server always in the same place on the map, or do they shuffle those up?  Do they shuffle them around even if your server is matched with the same other two servers over time?

3. In EB, do you always start in your same corner, or are those shuffled around?  Are they relative to the location of your server's borderlands?

1. Before it was every 24 hours. Now it's every week with the matchups changing on Friday night in the US I remember. Saturday morning for us Pacific islanders.

2. Locations depend on the color your server have been assigned.

3. From player observation colors are most likely given out based on ranking.
If your server is ranked 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, then you are assigned green
If your server is ranked 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, then you are assigned blue
If your server is ranked 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, then you are assigned red

We believe this is due to the very different landscape of Eternal Battlefield for each of the three servers.
Green is usually the highest ranked server in any matchup and it is quite clear that green is assigned to a somewhat more disadvantaged position on Eternal Battlefield.

#1964353 Mists PvP Footlocker?

Posted Woutman on 24 September 2012 - 05:48 PM

When people in game refer to "the Mists", they actually mean "the Heart of the Mists", which is the staging area for sPvP. WvW is in the Mists as well actually, so I understand your confusion.

Just go to your Hero panel and click on the tab with the two crossed swords. You should find a button there which will teleport you to "the Heart of the Mists".

#1940453 The big "What armor is this?" thread

Or maybe where does this one come from?

Someone posted the screen shot of themselves in another thread, but thought this might be a better place to get an answer. :)

Thinking about a Thief or Ranger next, but I'm pretty frustrated with what I've seen so far from crafted Leather.  Trying to find some pieces I can secure early on and then use go broke buying Transmutation stones.  :)

That would be the "Duelist" set, its all Exotic armor so its L70+.  You can use Transmutation stones on it if you want to put the "skin" on a lower level item.  Just be aware that the set can be rather pricey on the TP.  To my knowledge, the only other way to get it is by rare drops.

#1938095 Where do you buy Order armor?

Posted Viesis on 16 September 2012 - 08:45 PM

Taken from the GW2Wiki:

Durmand Priory armor can be purchased from Armor Requisitioner Secunda within the instance which is located in the Priory Archives right next to the Waypoint.

Order of Whispers armor can be purchased from: Armor Requisitioner Betje in the Sanctum of Secrets located within the Chantry of Secrets which can be found in Bloodtide Coast.

Vigil armor has the stats Power, Toughness, and Vitality in that order on it. It is level 80 and can be obtained by Crusader Eira by heading west from the teleporter outside Vigil Keep in Gendarran Fields.

And that's the problem when you make names game wide... always thought it was a stupid idea.

You could try adding accents to some more uncommon names, as some of them are allowed. Otherwise you're pretty much out of luck at this stage; personally I made placeholder name alts the first day of headstart because this issue was so predictable.

Or you could be more original and not desperately cling to a few names.

#1847690 Anyway to switch Orders? Durmand Priory is terrible

I'm up to the level 41 quest in the Priory and I think it is quite fun.

There was only one extremely easy jumping puzzle that I ran in to.

#1897955 The Heart System: What did you expect?

Posted Mick on 07 September 2012 - 03:20 PM

I expected hearts to be a system designed to lead you toward places that are generally good to hang around while playing in the world, and that's exactly what I get out of them.
