#2154945 Allowing anyone into any level of fractals: WRONG

Posted Afyael on 31 January 2013 - 04:45 AM

They should do it in tiers: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 etc. Painfully obvious to everyone except Anet apparently.

#2153536 One infusion to rule them all...

Posted Evans on 29 January 2013 - 03:49 PM

I'm considering the karma infusion.
Gold seems useless considering you get very few gold drops from monsters, and experience is...meh? There's other means for magic find too. I would say that +15% karma is the best upgrade out of those which will get you the most in the long run (if only to convert using orrian jewel boxes).

Give us these funny moments!

These plans sound quite promising, and it's really a good thing that they realize they need to polish what is already in the game, not attempt to feed half-assed new content to people that will devour it in moments and cry for more immediately after.

#2130294 What do you want in the January update / future expansions and patches?

#2116659 Anyone losing that new game smell?

You played 550 hours and wonder why the "new" feeling is gone ? Rofl.

#2114887 Can we return to the old lore?

Posted Guest 34905 on 11 December 2012 - 06:30 PM

Oh so you don't like it means it's directly bad?

I for one find the GW2 stance on Charr much better than in GW1.
In GW1 they were just the bad guys, while in GW2 there are differences.
Charr are a society, where different people have different opinions.

What feels better?
1) A pure good/bad portrait like we had in GW1. Charr were evil that killed the good humans.

2) A more variable society, where some Charr are hostile to almost everything (flame legion), some only accept the peace treaty with the humans, and where some charr just live among other races.
This feels much more realistic/mature to me..

Posted ShezuTsukai on 05 December 2012 - 08:55 PM

The people. Playing with my 3 to 5 member guild makes all the difference. When I play alone it just isn't that much fun.

I think that's why Urgoz and the Deep were so much fun, you had to play with other people. Yea sometimes they sucked but it was the unknown human element that made it interesting.

I suggest getting yourself a good playing group to go through ALL of the content with.

The game lacks "The Hook" that is needed in a game for players to keep coming back for more. 250 ectos or incredible grind to get shinnies are not really the hook. This game needs a lot of PvP mini games and a WvW system that is fun for players who can jump in anytime to contribute and feel useful.

But, I think a design driven around cash shop caan't really offer what many players are looking for. I thought a lot about why ANET keeps making stupid decisions off-late. I think I am about to conclude that everything GW2 designers think to implement must somehow be themed to utilize cash shop, directly or indirectly. I believe, that's what is hurting the game and make you feel "something is missing".

#2099311 Compiled Ratios for Guardian Heals

Posted G L J on 28 November 2012 - 04:57 AM

Total heal = (level*lvlratio) + (Healing Power*HPratio)
[email protected] = Base + (Healing power*HP ratio)

  • Regeneration (boon) = 130 base, 0.125 HP ratio
  • Monk's Focus (trait) = 1960 base, 0.1 HP ratio
  • Selfless Daring (trait) = 129 base, 1.0 HP ratio (0.5 HP ratio in pvp)
  • Writ of the Merciful (trait) = 107 base, 0.075 HP ratio
    Weapon Skills
  • Faithful Strike = 463 base, 0.1 HP ratio
  • Symbol of Faith = 520 base, 0.5 HP ratio
  • Orb of Light = 980 base, 0.33 HP ratio
  • Empower = 1500 base, 1.0 HP ratio
    Virtue of Resolve
  • Virtue of Resolve (passive) = 84 base, 0.06 HP ratio
  • Virtue of Resolve (boosted) = 243 base, 0.06 HP ratio
  • Virtue of Resolve (active) = 1625 base, 0.75 HP ratio
    Healing skills
  • Shelter = 4555 base, 0.7 HP ratio
  • Signet of Resolve = 8150 base, 1.25 HP ratio
  • Healing Breeze (self) = 6525 base, 1.0 HP ratio
  • Healing Breeze (other) = 1725 base, 1.0 HP ratio
  • Sanctuary = 2660 base, 0.5 HP ratio
  • Merciful Intervention = 1320 base, 0.2 HP ratio
  • Heal Area (ToC elite) = 1320 base, 0.5 HP ratio
1. Regeneration is calculated by second, a regeneration boon that lasts 10 seconds will have a 0.125*10 ratio total, or a 1.25 HP ratio.
2. The mace skill, symbol of faith, gives 4x copies of regeneration stacked intensively.

#2105710 Fractal Capacitor Cost

Posted Linfang on 03 December 2012 - 12:04 PM

I'm sick and tired of running fractals, Why?
Because the cost of Ascended gear is too damn high.

Grinding for something you don't actually need and then complaining about it. Well, makes sense.

#2103708 Do MMO players demand too much?

Posted ukgamer23 on 01 December 2012 - 05:30 PM

I really don't envy the life of a game developer, it must be very disheartening to be constantly moaned at by your player-base. How much is enough for the MMO gamer? Will you or I ever be pleased?
"oh this is too easy"
"this is too hard"
"this is too grindy"
"there isnt enough grind, nothing to do"
"too much to do"
"too random"
"ugh, such boring loot we all have the same"
  and it just keeps going.

The fact is they cant please everyone, no one can. Do we have to jump on every decision? Every piece of content? It will never be perfect for us all.
Look at the clock-tower, the dev actually apologized for making it too hard? Are we all that pathetic that any challenge in a video game is cried about so much, we need a sorry note from the creator?

Most of us gamers now are 18-30, we grew up with games...cant we all just grow up in general? Sure post constructive posts about issues, but leave the crying in the cot with the bottle.
