I get it you need to do 120 Level 80 Dynamic Events per Piece.
I get it you need 300 Badges not kills per Piece
I get it you need crafting materials
I get it you need a ludicrous amount of dungeon runs


What I dont get is what you were going to do that isnt any of these activities ?

Because once again:

If you plan to simply do Dynamic events at some point in time you're going to get the equivalnet of 120 lvl 80 dynamic events in Karma

If you are going to do WvW eventaully you're going to get 300 badges

If you are going to do dungeon runs eventually you'll reach the ludicrous amount

if you are going to gathering / crafting eventually you're going to get the materials needed

In the meantime doing all of these will net you gold that you can use to get some of the exotic set from the AH

so once again where is the grind ?

Grind is not hey I love dynamic events so I am going to do dynamic events and when I do 120 of them I will buy and exotic set.

Its not such a hard question, grind is repeating something you dont like doing so A what are exotic sets forcing you to repeat  EXACTLY
and B what else would have played if there were no exotic armor sets? and if for some reason A and B dont match for whatever reason Why cannot you Do B to get an Exotic armor set?

IF A = B how is it a grind if you're going to do it anyway?

Good to see some constructive criticism, let's hope this thread stays clean unlike so many other threads with the same topic.

Personally i'm of the opinion that (heavy) RNG should never be an integral part of a class mechanic, also, the class mechanic should revolve around the class and define them.

I think your idea for a rework is a step in the right direction in terms of RNG, even if it's not just there (mostly because i want it completely gone ^^). It still falls short of being a class-defining mechanic because it will still just be a shadowstep/return spell, a utility type skill we have a shitton of - ranger has pets, necro has death shroud, engi has toolbelt, ele has... 20 skills, and so on, we have a shadowstep/return + RNG even with your rework.

With a bit of work, steal might pass as an elite, but it can never define the thief as a class mechanic, that is atleast how i see it.

A quick suggestion for a class mechanic: A Stealth bar, think the necros' death shroud, but stealth and no spells when you activate it; The stealth bar would regenerate very slowly out of combat and faster in combat or when using initiative up to a cap of 10 seconds or whatever, while in stealth you would have increased initiative regen (like the trait patience in SA, but working!). Rough idea, needs tweaking, but you get the gist of it.

Patch Notes were released in Guild Wars 1 all the time from Anet itself.
Expect it to be part of GW2 when it officially releases.
