It's been a week since the change and I have yet to earn my first laurel. I came THIS close to earning it yesterday when I was missing just a few more revives. But the problem was that I played the game for almost 2 hours, on multiple characters, in multiple zones and multiple servers and I didn't come across enough corpses.
This is bullshit.

I consider myself a rather casual player and doing the dailies takes no more than an hour for me. I think you should focus on one zone, one place. I really don't get the multiple characters / zones / servers bit, the whole switching must've taken you more time than actual playing.. For example Plains of Ashford offer plenty of events in a close area, lots of gathering resources for cheap tools, underwater places, oozes or ascalonian rangers on which you can do the dodge tier in 10mins, crafting stations where you can simply refine 10 of anything you collected, and lots of npc corpses close to where the ascalonians are.. and it's done. Honestly, it will take you around 45mins to get it done there, no matter what current dailies are, if you don't have time to wander around more.

Thanks all! :)

As for commissions - no commission threads are allowed at the moment, but also I simply have no time right now. So that's a no. At least for the time being.

As for npcs - we'll see. To be honest I haven't found that many interesting so far (and I'm done with the storyline on a few alts, all orders).. Not sure why. They all feel somewhat generic. I only liked Tybalt and that Asura 'bomber' dude (with a horrible wife).. and somehow I don't see myself sketching a charr anytime soon ;)

I'd say make both guardian and warrior, play both until lvl 10 (should take you no more than an hour), test them in heart of the mists (pvp "lobby") too (you can play with skills and builds at lvl80 there and use them on dummies). Then you'll have some idea what is the difference between them and focus on one :) As both can have great defence and dps builds, I think it's the only way to decide which gameplay you prefer.

In Topic: Mesmer or Engineer?

Both Mesmer and Engineer require active play. Mesmer has to kite forever to survive or be really quick with their dodges/ invulns/ distortion to stay alive and the Engineer potentially has more skills to manage than the Elementalist. I would roll either warrior or guardian if you feel your "skills" arent up to the challenge.

I second this. But I'd also add necro to your list. This is just my personal opinion, but rangers, guardians and warriors, although easy for pve, quickly become boring if you don't want to play with more specific builds requiring using much more, well, fingers. Necro has a great survivability (huge hp pool) and you can switch between many builds easy (durable golem + extra minions that aggro enemies / dual daggers for close encounters and big numbers / amazing condition damage with scepters / good combos with staff / amazing aoe with wells).. and unlike with other classes you can basically have one build and just swap major traits between fights and will still be viable. Also - all weapons vary a lot, and none is really awful.

I also tested all classes (and have them as alts), and I had the same problem - being afraid I won't be good enough. Necro imo offers best variety and doesn't get dull so quickly. You can play it in "easy mode" or experiment with more risky ones. Just my opinion though. I also enjoy guardian a lot. In the end I'd advise you to take a look at light and heavy armor skins and decide with that in mind as well.

But if you insist on either Engi or Mes, I'd say go with Engi, because they are less squishy and their core mechanic (f1-f4 skills) gives you more space than mesmer shatters and requires less field control.
