#2169310 Commissions Not Allowed

Posted shanaeri rynale on 23 February 2013 - 06:44 PM

While I was at lunch with Colin Johanson on Weds, I had a brief chat with Aiden (the EU CM) re: this issue. he stated that the risk of scamming was the main factor behind it, but that if people who had been artists and customers in GW1 could PM me with their experiences (both good and bad) he would make sure this issue was revisited.

Basically, they need to be convinced they wont get a bazillion support tickets about being scammed by artists. So, hopefully given enough examples and testimonies we can change their mind. So while its not a dead cert theu will change their mind, at least they are prepared to have another look.

#2142691 Necromancer Screenshots

Posted Evans on 15 January 2013 - 08:23 AM

Inspired by a topic on Canthans in the Durmand Priory forum segment, I decided to delete my previous necro and make a new one. A Krytan Luxon.

This is Melaina of the Crab, proud descendant of the Crab clan. She's a streetrat, born in Lions Arch but due to tradition her family are nomads and traveled around. Her parents were killed in the great collapse of the art district, bless their souls. Now, many years later, she is of age to be chosen as elder of her clan. However, in order to gain influence she is going to travel the world and broaden her horizons first.

With some research I learned that Luxons are named in Ancient Greek generally. Melaina means 'dark' so that's appropriate. Then it was just a matter of finding a Luxon'ish outfit. I settled with this:
(mind this is a preview from the pvp locker, she's only lv.6 so far. I couldn't help the horrible colours so I'll have to repost a picture when she actually has the outfit)

I actually think it comes pretty close :) I blame the difference on Krytan influence.

#2143621 Should a wipe kick your party from a Dungeon?

Posted Lordkrall on 16 January 2013 - 10:54 AM

I could see it as an optional HM version of the dungeons. Where, if you wipe, you have to start over.
Forcing it into every dungeon is not a good idea though.

There are ALWAYS some situations where even the best of teams might wipe. Should that mean they should have to redo the whole dungeon? What if they are in Arah explorable and wipe just as the last boss is about to go down? Should they really have to spend another 3 hours in order to complete it?
This would turn people away from doing dungeons at all in my eyes.

#1962734 Is magic find as a game mechanic even necessary?

Posted Arys on 24 September 2012 - 06:29 AM

I wish it wasn't in the game. I just don't think it's a necessary mechanic, and I feel bad when I don't use it because I MIGHT be missing out on loot.

#1998463 GW 2 Bot Valley

Posted dawdler on 06 October 2012 - 09:58 PM

IMO Anet should introduce a new mechanic into the game instead.

Dont ban botters!

Instead, whenever a botter has been identified, move their characters to the arena in the Black Citadel with no way out. Just place them there, permanently. The only respawn point they have access to is in the middle of the arena. And they would all be PvP flagged against each other.

Entertainment for the people!

#1919443 How would you rate your class at 80?

Posted Xrylene on 11 September 2012 - 09:08 PM

Mesmer at 80, I have mixed feelings on. On the one hand, i really like the premise of the Mesmer, and I like being a mobile duelist mage hybrid... thing. On the other, I still hate shattering, mantras, and how dependent Mesmers seem to be on Phantasms to do anything. Shattering feels less like a class bonus, and more like a spell completion for all of our clone summoning skills, as in, those skills are only half a skill, and shattering just completes it. In other words, it doesn't feel like we get our own mechanic at all, it feels like shattering is another couple of buttons to press just to be on par with the basic weapon skills of several other professions. Mantras are about as dull as a skill can get, take forever to charge, seem to take a bunch of traits to make at all worthwhile, and besides the daze one, seem to have little to do with how Mesmer plays. Phantasms feel more powerful than the Mesmer itself, while being nearly one shot by everything, and as it is they feel pretty fire and forget, since they are locked to your target, and just continuously attack until the target dies or they die, literally the only Phantasm you can interact with is the Warden on focus, since you can position yourself behind or in it to block attacks, otherwise they just do their own thing.

Even saying all that, I don't hate the idea behind clones, I like the actual weapon skills on all of the main and offhands(not the two handed weapons though, both are incredibly dull). Many of the utility skills are fun to use, I love Time Warp, and want to like Mass Invisibility, but it needs something more, so that it can be a bit better than the stealth wall utility, while Moa Morph can go to hell, it's completely imbalanced in PvP, and borderline useless in PvE, better to remove it and replace it with something that would be useful in both, and would be more mesmery, and not in the "lockdown" sense that Mesmers used to be in GW1, that is gone now.

As far as how effective I feel, I need to work much, much harder at killing things and surviving than Warriors, Guardians, Rangers, or Engineers. I can't compare it to Thieves or Elementalists, because they both have higher damage, but less survivability than me. Now that I don't need to deal with Destroyers in story missions, it's gotten easier, but it's still frustrating how in dynamic events, I feel like it's better to run around tagging everything than actually killing things, because I have too little AoE and damage, even with shatters, and I don't want to use the staff or greatsword. Underwater at least, I feel like I'm very powerful.

Overall, at the moment, I'd say probably 6-7 out of 10. The Mesmer needs work, not just in numbers but in mechanics, and doing a PvE and PvP split won't entirely fix that, because while they may be viable in PvP, they have a lot of the same mechanics that prevent them from being as fun or cohesive as they could be.

I think Anet knows necros need the most work especially minions I expect loads of buffs in the first class buff/nerf patch.
I can't believe people say this. I'd rank necro the most powerful class in the game right now. Use staff and sceptre/dagger. Put up your bleeds, hit epidemic and 6 mobs die SO fast. No other class can kill things anywhere near as fast. And as a necro you pretty much don't die.

#1876739 Do you find tasks enjoyable?

Loads of people hate them, but i dont know, i kinda like them, they tell a small story on the way, and some of them are quite enjoyable.
