#2080733 Forget about Ascended gear, Has Anet been honest about anything?

Posted Vexies on 15 November 2012 - 01:51 PM

Yep your right! there a evil corporation out to destroy gaming and lie to us all the time!!

Seriously if people dont get that NO game will hit all its bullet points right out of the gate then I dont know what to tell ya.  You get a product as done as done can be then you ship.  MMO's are a living breathing product.  They are NEVER done .. ever.

But sure you can QQ and feel all butt hurt because the church of ANet blasphemed against the holy text or what ever.  OR...
you can realize its just a game and a damn good one and companies do the best they can for spoiled unrealistic gamers.

Or.. maybe just play something else

So you don't want to fight anything, you don't want to pay for anything and you don't want to work for anything.

Have you tried not playing?

I tell you 5 year olds shouldn't be allowed to use computers... just needs to be a law.

I don't mean to be rude, but you are expecting new content for a game that has been out for less than two months? And are disappointed that you actually are getting new content for a game that new?

I am definitely not disappointed.

So what you did was more or less assume that you would get a specific item (without ANY kind of proofs).

You didn't get it and posted some ranting on the official forums, including rule-breaking stuff. You got banned, and now you come here and whine about it?

If you had enough time to see him aiming, you had enough time to dodge.

Stun him, go stealth, pop aegis, mist form, throw up protection, daze him, use decoy, or any of the other damage mitigation abilities that your profession of choice has.

#1954759 "There is no content"

Posted kKagari on 21 September 2012 - 09:08 AM

So there are people on this forum who say GW2 lacks content/is boring etc. Lets get the small one out of the way first. If you don't enjoy GW2, thats ok. If you are finding it boring, that's ok too. For all intensive discussion purposes, GW2 can be the worst game to ever exist, taking the crown from E.T.. That's ok.

But now, apparently, there is a lack of content. Remember, this is different to 'I don't find the content fun'. There is also the exclamations that there is no new content, when the game has neared the end of its first month.

So I ask you this first; what is your /age. How much did you pay for the game? I paid the full 60 USD. The last game I paid 60USD for which lasted me over 30 hours was Dark Souls. It took me 30 hours to complete the game for the first time, and considerably less on subsequent playthrus. I clocked about 90 hours total in the end.

At the time of writing this, I have spent 110 hours in GW2. None of which was in AFK. I considered all 110 hours of that time spent, fun. But fun, is beside the point in this topic, just to reiterate. What I find fun doesn't equate to what others find fun. But I'm completing content in the game, designed by the developers. My map completion is 31% and I've peppered some of that play time in with PvP and dungeon runs.

I paid 60USD for this. Not a cent more. Which other 60USD AAA game have you played recently that offered more than 30 hours of game time on your first play through. I say 30 because a skillful player, unaided by others, only doing PvE content, will probably have hit 80 and slayed the final boss. Why has it suddenly become expected of Arenanet to churn out new content like it is a subscription MMO?

Then there are those who say 'I'm going back to WoW' like it is a threat to Arenanet or the forum community. I don't care as much as the next guy. Why can't you play both games at once? Do you not have OTHER 60USD games installed on your computer? Does playing WoW delete those games from your hard drive?

TL;DR: This is a 60USD game, you can probably count with one hand how many other 60USD games that have constant content updates for free, with content that can last over 50hrs. Regardless of how fun you find this game or not, it is not lacking content.

#1894023 Any idea when official store re-open? Or other places to buy GW2?

#1786754 Any Pre-Purchasers just going to wait until Tuesday?

Posted CalmLittleBuddy on 22 August 2012 - 02:23 PM

Let's take a step back and be logical, folks.

If you can't wait to log in the second the game starts, good for you. Have fun and enjoy.

If you want to wait a few days and let the place settle in so that you're not constantly bumped to overflow in the starter areas, or you have to work or whatever, that's okay. It's only three days. And if you're planning on spending a lot of years player, three days ain't going to make a big difference.

But if you think waiting is crazy or stupid or 'mental' and everyone who's a cool kid NEEDS to play this game ASAP or they're losers... uhhh, it's a game. By the end of the month, you'll probably be whining on the forums about changes or 'nerfs' and saying 'game sucks!' and rage quitting, because you are judgemental, closed minded, impulsive and lack the proper social skills to enjoy anything for longer than a few weeks. If you're that hyper about what other people plan on doing with their weekend, you are THAT GUY. Pre-launch hero, post-launch crybaby.

I will not be until midnight (Eastern Time), claking my mouse, praying to get in and grab names, not sleeping all night and running a 20 hour game-a-thon. I'm waking up at 8 am, just like usual. I am eating breakfast, showering, checking email, doing some yard work and then maybe log in around 4 pm on Saturday.

I might play a total of 10 hours before the 28th, if I have the time, and half of that will probably be monday night. I pre-purchased because I got a good deal (Thanks Greenman Gaming!), not because I need 'firsties'.

Just to clarify, if you stay up all night and rock out 40 hours between now and Tuesday, go for it. I am with you 100%! Have fun!

If you want to paint others as 'mental' for not playing right away fast fast now, you need to stop and do a little check in with real life and see if maybe your priorities are maybe a little unhealthy...

It's one thing to love what you do. Quite another to mock those who don't love it as much as you do.

My friends, it is I, Crispysocks.

Rejoice today, for our class is AWESOME. It was great before, now it's even more amazing. This will always be my main, i've had an amazing time with this class since day one, and will continue to do so well beyond launch. Why people think this class is broken or whatever is completely beyond me...but then again, we are all the hope for the future.

Play this class well, and be proud!!!!!

Thank you so much for this wonderful thread.

#1734128 I'm complaining about something that you may or may not care about

Posted gobberpooper on 14 August 2012 - 10:45 PM

Arena Net hinted at maybe doing something and I still haven't seen it, even though the game hasn't been released. I'm here to complain about it because there's few things I have to complain about.

As a spoiled kid, I hate Arena Net for giving a nonexistant advantage I've imagined to players who don't have my divine right to get everything I want. Furthermore, I'm pissed off that people can get this aforementioned advantage by paying slightly more and helping out a company they love, which isn't allowed because I hate them as I said before. Even if that advantage is in PvE and will affect me in no way, I'm pissed off because my parents said I'm special, and things like this don't make me feel special.

I feel like I'm being forced to have fun and get my money's worth. Well up yours, Anet! I enjoy throwing $60 away and rushing through a game to feel a false sense of accomplishment. Leveling is a grind, fighting is a grind, running from point A to point B is a grind. Pressing buttons to use skills is spamming. Using a mouse and keyboard is clunky. No matter what profession I play, I lose. Every profession is UP. Unless I'm not using it, then it's OP. If my opponent and I are using the same profession and I lose, then obviously he just used the cash store to get better gear because there's no way I suck at a game I'm not used to.

Why haven't they told us anything about the entire plot of the game? I feel left out in the dark if the company doesn't release a statement to the press summarizing the whole plot and spoiling everything. The plot should be as spoiled as I am: completely. Just because the game isn't released doesn't give this stupid company and it's stupid community the right to deprive me of every tiny detail about every minute feature.

I hate grinds. Why isn't the endgame a grind? I want grind-rich features. I hate grinds.

#1731631 Chewing at the bit, while waiting for the official forums to open

Posted Lazmira on 14 August 2012 - 03:50 PM

I'm actually terrified to know what the official forums are going to look like.. I came from LoL, Aion, and Tera forums which all have been utter piles of shit. I don't mean to insult anyone that were using those forums as there were some rare gems in there but it was mostly crap... I will likely use the GW2 official forums, but I also may come back to here if they become so inconsistant and stupid. It is never very fun being on a forum where it's the new cool thing to be negative on everything that breathes.

I most likely will actually be messaging Anet about how well they're doing instead of posting.. ( That is if they actually plan to do well ) I feel like there isn't enough people out there that even make them feel like they're human.. Someone has to make people smile :(..

Forums? Ill be busy playing the game.

You are obviously not up to date.

Let me bring you up to speed, dawnq. Today, the common gamer does not play the game anymore but posts on the forum what he does not like about the game and what he demands to be changed. He does so in a particular rude and entitled manner in threads titled as "dear Anet, from a MMO vet" or "A letter to Anet from a former pro gamer". It is also the place where the real PvP happens.

Cheers. ;)
