#2192002 New Gem Store Items: Flame & Frost Dye Packs and Molten Alliance Mining Pick

Soulbound? Nope, not for me.

Make an Account Bound version and I would be thinking about buying it.

#2155947 Mandatory Password Change is Coming

Posted Swarfega on 01 February 2013 - 12:32 PM

I actually don't know my password. LastPass and the Launcher does though.  The password is random. Very random.  I also use the Google Authenticator and use an email address that is only used for this game.  I would like to think my security is pretty tough enough to prevent being compromised.

I dislike the way people say they got "hacked".  No you didn't, you just taught a lesson for being so clumsy with your personal information.

This is *ing retarded. I'm not the type of person who's password is ''1234'', but I have to fall victim to this. I've never been hacked nor will I ever be, but because of those idiots that essentially let themselves get hacked, I have to pay the price. I like to have a constant password for everything, because I can remember it. I don't want to have five different passwords floating around in my head and more forgotten because of ArenaNet thinking that we are all twelve year olds. I've been a devoted fan since Prophecies, but they have lost my respect by forcing this change.

Number 1. Using the same password for everything? THAT ALONE will mean when you get hacked, you will lose every single thing that one password is connected to. That's a rookie mistake. Especially with fansites being hacked and passwords being stripped from those. They essentially already have your password now.

Number 2. In the time it took you to type that entire post, I've managed to change my password and read your reply. It's not a time-consuming task.

Number 3. How fickle is your respect that when they look out for their player base and their product, you suddenly "lose respect" for them?

You have made a LOT of mistakes. You've been lucky. It was a matter of time before you DID get hacked. You should have MORE respect for them protecting your account.

Are you going to put more options in the future?
Yes, I might :)

What are you most comfortable drawing?
Humans/Humanoid characters are what I am most comfortable at drawing. But I've always been the type who doesn't back down from a challenge. I've drawn every GW2 race except for Charr unless you count dead charr. I'll try to post some more samples in the future.

Any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Links are actually broken (probably out of date since we got BWE3).

This is correct. I don't want to update the guide until release, but here are some examples of how I would spec now:

Would use same pets and weapons/combinations.

Would change pets to Hawk for DPS and a drake of your choice for tanking. Bears are no longer legitimate tanking options due to their weak toughness. Please note that if the "Sick 'em!" utility skill makes it into the game then a Druid is almost surely going to want it as a utility skill.

When pet DPSing:

When pet tanking:

This build has changed a lot since it is now worth going 30 into Wilderness Survival. Same weapons and everything else though. Also here is hoping evasive purity returns to value. Please note that if the utlity skill "Protect Me!" makes it into the game a Warden will almost certainly want it and would drop their utility spirits. Their utility skills would then be Signet of the Wild / Signet of Stone / "Protect Me!"

The Wanderer build was gutted pretty bad and there is no real way to spec for it currently. The evasive purity nerf removed the motivations for splicing the build like it was before.

They really need to improve non-spirit options in Nature Magic, polish Beastmastery so more than 5 or so traits are worth taking, and make the middle traits of Wilderness Survival more beneficial. The lack of three pet oriented utility skills also obfuscate things a bit now. "Protect Me!" could become incredibly powerful, as could "Sick 'em!"

#1913663 Making dyes account-wide?

Posted BlaineTog on 10 September 2012 - 08:55 PM

Compared to the dye situation from GW1, GW2 dyes are *unbelievably cheap.*

Dye was all kinds of rare in GW1 and consequently was obscenely expensive.  Furthermore, each vial applied only to a single piece of armor.  Forget about "character-bound:" you needed 6 vials just to make one armor set match, and that's assuming you didn't want some non-basic color, in which case you needed even more vials to mix.  They eventually added dye sellers but for the longest time you had to walk around Lion's Arch screeching "WTB black dye, 10 plat per" and hope it wasn't one of those weeks where everyone wanted to charge way more.

It totally blows my mind how I can get a new piece of armor and have it automatically change to my preferred color setup and, what's more, that I can micromanage which parts of each piece of armor are which color.  I can fiddle endlessly, if I want, until it looks pretty good and then totally change it up ten minutes later at my leisure.

We also had to walk up hill both ways in the snow and female characters didn't wear these slutty outfits-- ok, yes they did, but you get my point!

#1926242 Arenanet has scared it's player base?

Posted Aaren on 13 September 2012 - 11:38 AM

Nah. Most people who get banned do something that clearly is against the rules. They then come crying to the forums, making themselves look innocent while Arenanet is the big bad wolf. It's mostly BS.

#1922248 Every type of NPC in this game

Posted Red_Falcon on 12 September 2012 - 01:04 PM

51 types with 5 to 35 sub-types each, prolly about 300-400 or so in the end.

For instance, Trolls are divided in Cave Trools, Snow Trolls, Jungle Trolls and Forum Trolls.

#1865530 Rangers useless in parties?

Posted lmaonade on 02 September 2012 - 08:34 AM

Speaking as a guild member, I don't really care if rangers are less useful in dungeons, if my guildie ranger wants to run a dungeon with me then I'm going to invite him.

#1892289 Arenanet Created The Worst Griefing Of All

Posted Supreme on 06 September 2012 - 05:13 PM

So wait, an enemy is chasing a target and can't keep up, sees a new target just standing there eating a sammich. Decides that's an easier target and noms your face.

Sounds like pretty good AI to me. :P

#1892212 Arenanet Created The Worst Griefing Of All

Posted Fatalis on 06 September 2012 - 05:02 PM

If you really want to just afk in a safe spot, just use your HoM stone and portal to the HoM.

Once you're done with whatever you're doing, you can portal back to the exact same spot you were.

Problem solved.

There are way bigger ways to grief in other games.

A max level character could keep one shotting the mobs you need to kill for a quest, and then you can't even progress your character, or in a world PvP situation, you could just keep getting corpse camped, and not even be able to play a character you want. Those are much bigger problems to deal with then simply having a person aggroing mobs towards you.
