[Build] Clone Factory Hybrid Build

16 September 2013 - 07:33 PM

READ THIS POST FOR UP-TO-DATE CHANGES -> https://forum-en.gui...rst#post3909053

UPDATED: As of March 26th
Changes include:
1. Sword OH -> Focus
2. Adventurer Runes -> Lyssa Runes
3. Phantasmal Fury -> Desperate Decoy
4. Berserker Jewel -> Carrion Jewel

Reasons for changes:
1. I've found that iWarden works much better than iSwordsman in stacking bleeds and provides greater defensive capabilities (the same applies for the Temporal Curtain vs. Illusionay Riposte)
2. While Adventurer Rune is the epitome and ideal runeset for a hybrid clone-on-death build, the condition removal of Lyssa rune is extremely powerful and helps with the poor condi-removal of the build.
3. Truthfully, the bleed-on-crit with Phantasmal Fury is usually only a 1-2 stack difference and the direct damage provided is not as optimal as the defensive capabilities of Desperate Decoy (its also an extra clone to apply another stack of clone-on-death conditions).
4. With the addition of Lyssa Runes, the build has too much precision with 65% crit chance (50% is what I would prefer it could be at), Carrion Jewel is the best replacement for a hybrid stat with a little bit of vitality.

NOTE: Hey guys. I've finally brought this build over to the PvP forums =3 I'm SO sorry my build for leaving you to collect dust for a whole year :,(
I've been getting back into the Mesmer for PvP and I kept wanting to go back to this build because of how fun I remember it was. Turns out, it actually quite viable for tournaments and still very fun! So I've updated the guide to be more awesome and added all the various build stuff stuff that other guides have.

Welcome to Ujelli's Clone Factory Hybrid Build Guide!

"No I don't want all my sexy clones to shatter!" :qq:

Whenever I prepare to do battle with my foes I hate to look at those four buttons "primed" to destroy my precious minions. No, I want to make the most out of them. Sure the shatters do provide great utility. But at what cost? To see all of my clones disappear leaving me to fend for myself? But leaving them unshattered only for my enemies to butcher my mini-army leaves almost as bad an aftertaste. Well not any more with this build!

This build is focused on being a Clone Factory, mass-producing mindless minions to do battle. But what's the point of bushels full of minions without a sweet self-destruct button. What was that? Your saying I'm being hypocritical? No my fellow mesmers, I am not talking about the accursed four buttons. I am talking about clone-SPAMMING!

By using the Crippling Dissipation, Confusing Combatants, and Debilitating Dissipation traits, one can get the most "bang" out of their buck by recycling their clones for new ones, killing the old ones, and stacking debuffs + damage to their enemies. That added with lower illusion cooldown traits lets you dishes out tons of clones leading to more control and damage. Unfortunately the biggest downside to this build is that it does not work as well with the range-mesmers. Sorry. But who cares! I LOVE going around duking it out as a twin-swords spellcasters creating absolute chaos on the field and NOBODY will tell me otherwise.

Gear:
Full Lyssa Runes
Rampager Amulet + Carrion Jewel
Sword MH - Superior Sigil of Energy
Sword OH - Superior Sigil of Force
Focus- Superior Sigil of Force
Scepter - Superior Sigil of Energy
Pistol - Superior Sigil of Bloodlust <- Put this sigil in whichever weaponset you prefer

Traits:
Domination 20: V Crippling Dissipation, III Empowered Illusions
Dueling 25: V Desperate Decoy, X Deceptive Evasion
Chaos 10: V Debilitating Dissipation
Inspiration:
Illusions 15: III Compounding Power

Skills:
Heal: Signet of the Ether
Utilities: Mirror Images, Decoy, Null Field
Elite: Mass Invisibility

Play Style:
The focus of this build is not to shatter unless for stomping and counter-stomping. Using Mind Wrack for spiking and Cry of Frustration for confusion-stacking is still very strong but will leave you with less clones most of the time. Generally you'll be using both sets of weapons 50 & 50 percent of the time. With the sigils of energy and your runes of the adventurer, you'll pretty much have dodge available to you at all times allowing for a constant 3-clone up time.

Each clone that dies will apply Cripple 3s, Confusion 3s, and a random chance of Weakness 3s, 3 Bleeds 5s, or 3 Vulnerabilitys 5s. This is ALOT of conditions from 1 clones exploding. But, your going to have dozens of clones exploding all the times thanks to your weapon skills and all the clones produced from your Deceptive Evasion (remember this also includes your phantasms that get killed)! The torment and confusion from the scepter also add to the crazy conditions that you'll be applying.

Whenever you feel the heat starting to be focused on you, all you need to do is Decoy or Mass Invis and pretend your another clone. Blurred Frenzy still provides both great damage and defense. Illusionary Counter provides amazing blocks AND makes more clones! Not to forget that many of your utility skills are stun-breaks!

Utilities:
Any utility (depending on your preference) can be swapped out for:
  • Mirror Images because there's no such things as too many clones for this build.
  • Decoy is almost mandatory for this build with the target loss, clone, and stunbreak!
  • Blink for those who want a nice escape and gap-closer.
  • Signet of Domination for more Cond. damage and an on-demand stun.
  • Illusionary Disenchanter for condition clear and boon removal (plus it counts as a clone =3).
  • Phantasmal Defender for the tankiness.
  • Null Field for the aoe cond. clease and boon remov. plus its a combo field (IDuelist get more stacks of confusion and you + ISwordsman can get chaos armor off it)
  • Feedback for the combo field and the aoe reflect (enemies will be constantly crippled and will have to rely on range more so this is a great counter)
Pros:
One of the easiest (and funnest) Mesmer builds to play!
Trades passive defense (Toughness,Vitality) for active defense(Dodging), Cond. Damage, and Direct Damage.
Massive control potential with great damage output.
Constantly reapplied conditions.
Tons of stun-breaks!
Lots of dodge!
Don't have to worry about wasted clones (there are none).
Easily one-on-one (sometimes 1v2) with most profession in PvP.
Being a dual-sword, melee magi, mofo pimp who doesn't care about MMO stereotypes!

Cons:
Doesn't work well with being range (clones aren't prone to always be on top of enemies).
Experienced players will be able to spot you.
Lacks multiple ways to clear conditions.
Can be a hassle sometimes to chase down fleeing enemies (which is what they'll be doing)
Spike damage is limited and is traded for control unlike Mantra-phantasms and shatter builds.
Meh, couldn't think of anymore to put. I just enjoy this build that much.

Le Condition Build!

Hey guys, I’m adding the condition specific build. It works like the first build but makes use of a different set of tools i.e. staff instead of dual swords. Credit goes to Keenlam’s Clone Spammer Build for the base of the build.

http://gw2skills.net...LzXyisFN Y9xeBA

While you will lose the extra dodge on heal and extra interrupt of sword #4, you make up for it with the tankiness of the staff abilities. After testing this build for awhile, its just as fun to play (with less clones and awesome explosions) while being much more viable at Tpvp.

Cry of Frustration also is the best shatter to use with this build even with on-death traits cause you still generate a ridiculous amount of clones. On the down side your clones wont chase enemies to hell like they did with the sword but playing like a clone and retreating from attacks that come for you solves that problem making this a very good point holding build.

The Hybrid Third Build! (Name Pending...)

Hey all you swords and staffs (staves? W/E!) mesmer loving clone spammers! This new build keeps everyone's favorite stalking sword clones from the first build and the lols-all-them-conditions staff clones from the second build and puts it all in one build! (ladies, keep it in your pants) Credit goes to Mei Mato's Illusionary Bomberman Guide for the base of this build.

http://gw2skills.net...LjWStsaN Y9xeBA

Rampagers is highly recommended with jewel choice up to you. Adventure runes helps give that extra dodge on heal meaning more clones and more conditions!

Sword/Pistol: Keeps the great synergy between sword clones and on-death traits. While your clones are all whamming right on top of your enemy, they are also in a perfect position to activate Diversion for on the spot interrupts. Your iDuelist also gains alot from both the power, precision, and condition damage.

Staff: With Staff #2, you won't have to worry about needing Blink in this build. iWarlocks have greater damage with the addition of power doing about 3k crits.

Cons: Along with the cons from the other builds, its also much more plush. Condition duration and damage is significantly reduced. Lose out on torment and confusion from scepter.

Conclusion:
So, try out each build and see which one fits your playstyle the most. Any comments and helpful changes or suggestions are MORE than welcome. I really want to optimize this build so... Bring them at me!

P.S. I have NO idea how I wrote all of this ^ I'm like a totally different person when I type.

What's that warrior build?

02 September 2013 - 11:45 PM

I've met two warriors that were ♥♥♥♥ing unstoppable. While on my thief both times, I was unable to deal enough damage to bring these guys down to 50% health. They apparently stacking huge amounts of armor and w/e damage was dealt was heal up over time to the point where the cond. damage from them killed me. Does anyone know what this build is?

Zhaitan: The Body Found

16 May 2013 - 09:35 PM

Finally, after months of questioning the fate of the Elder Undead Dragon, I've found Zhaitan's body!

After killing the Elder Dragon (with sparkle cannons =P), my party and I decided to check-off skydiving over Orr from our Things-To-Do-After-Level-80 List. Well, amazingly, we all forgot our parachutes on the ship and fell tragically to our deaths.

We found we ended up where our first gunship had fallen, still running along with various other Pact soldiers (who we hope weren't ghosts @_@) Fortunately, I brought a revive orb and thus we began our exploration, or so we thought. Unfortunately though, I was the only one not stuck with the ship (curse those invisible walls!) so I had to venture alone. From this point it was all just empty space and swimming in nothingness for a long while which I will not bore you with a thorough retelling of.

After long periods of swimming and moving around invisible walls, I found Zhaitan! Here are the screens =3

EDIT: Forgot to also mention, found Zhaitan's tails that were cut/beamed off which actually led me to Zhaitan, so I guess those are also included in the model.

Sclerite! (Speculations?)

16 May 2013 - 09:11 PM

Possible new karka? Canach's return? Bubbles connections?

Add your revelations and speculations down below!

I'll start. I hope the Sclerite are some new more badass form of Karka. When I saw the Karka artwork,Posted Image
I was thoroughly disappointed to find the slightly larger if not the same size model as a Champion Karka for the Ancient Karka. The freakyness of the weapons (esp. the backpiece xD) has me really excited for what we may face in the coming months.

No shattering...just EXPLOSIONS!

Tons of stun-breaks!

Clones literally EXPLODE when they die adding to the confusion and giving more awesome.
Forces enemies to kill clones only for them to feel worse doing so.
Works extremely well vs the other player's brains and decently vs NPC UI.

Cons:
Doesn't work well with being range (clones aren't prone to always be on top of enemies)
More difficult to trick larger group of players and mobs (but ways more so then typical builds)
