You can wait for them to chip away ore and throw it in the smelters, or you can mine ore yourself. Then give the metal made in the smelter to a guard. You can even imagine yourself helping the poor whipped murderers finish up quicker so they can have some relief.
There's a goody-two-shoes option for this quest.

Tell me about it, the combat in the pandaria trailer made the game look like it had awesome combat, but then you play the game and it's nowhere close to that level of awesomeness (at least not the PVE, where you typically stand in one place hitting your buttons to watch some dull animations). GW2 is the first MMO I've played where PVE actually feels epic, like a console game. That's what a vocal minority accomplishes.
People think the game is very bad, but in reality it's just a couple of people whining about a small part of the game.
Result is everybody forgets the good parts of the game.
But people that can remain objective and keep a distance from forums like this can give their opinion, and apparently some of these people think GW2 is GOTY.

Did you take a sample of the playerbase before and after the update to see if that was true ? Because as far as everyone is concerned dye drops have been irregular since the start. Sometime you are the luckiest player in the world, and other you can go on weeks without finding one.

Once again: This will not overwrite the old font file. Also, I noticed in Photoshop the font seems to look best when set to Strong instead of Normal.

what are you guys talking about lol? getting ascended backpiece is easy and no real money has been spent. you don't even need it right away , or ever till you reach lvl 20 (so i heard) so its not even a big deal, coze by then you'll get a drop.

I love the game, am a staunch supporter and who cares about the Ascended armor. I think it's really petty to base your opinion of a game around one set of items that may or may not be of use anywhere but a dungeon. Come on people. You have no idea if ANet is going to carry this outside the dungeon and put agony in the level 80 PvE areas. It's for a bloody dungeon that you don't even have to enter.

ANet said that they expect people to be getting Legendaries six months to a year into the game.
Exotics can be achieved shortly after hitting 80.
Did anyone expect that Ascended would be achieved quickly? It's going to have to be grindy to fill that six month gap between Exotics and Legendaries.
This is the problem with trying to satisfy people with endgame carrots to chase.
