#2147178 Help Warden Scourejaw run the Prison Quarry

Posted Evans on 21 January 2013 - 08:06 AM

And you don't have to whip them, you just chose to do so.

You can wait for them to chip away ore and throw it in the smelters, or you can mine ore yourself. Then give the metal made in the smelter to a guard. You can even imagine yourself helping the poor whipped murderers finish up quicker so they can have some relief.

There's a goody-two-shoes option for this quest.

#2129434 End of year GOTY Awards...agree or disagree....

Yup, just compare WoW: Pandaria trailer to gameplay, LOL..

Tell me about it, the combat in the pandaria trailer made the game look like it had awesome combat, but then you play the game and it's nowhere close to that level of awesomeness (at least not the PVE, where you typically stand in one place hitting your buttons to watch some dull animations). GW2 is the first MMO I've played where PVE actually feels epic, like a console game. This is partly due to the fact that you're encouraged to move around while fighting enemies via dodging their attacks, as enemies your level can actually pose some form of threat to you, as well as the awesome animations for attacks, making the combat feel intense.

I already knew that WoW's combat was pretty dull when I watched the MOP trailer, I still think it's pretty *ing glaring when your trailer is 10 times more epic than your actual game. There's a reason blizzard never shows WoW gameplay during commercials and trailers.

That's what a vocal minority accomplishes.

People think the game is very bad, but in reality it's just a couple of people whining about a small part of the game.
Result is everybody forgets the good parts of the game.

But people that can remain objective and keep a distance from forums like this can give their opinion, and apparently some of these people think GW2 is GOTY. :)

#2134149 So it seems a lot of naughty boys and girls got one last gift from Santa this...

To quote that Anet post:

Quote

I’ve seen the numbers, and the damage to the economy could have been substantial, if the exploit wasn’t closed down and if these people were allowed to use their ill-gotten gains. People whose accounts were terminated were the worst offenders. I’m talking a lot of ill gotten gains, and a significant risk to the economy.
Any time you take one thing and can make two, and then four, and then sixteen… ya gotta know that’s just wrong. (I won’t quibble on the odds, overall, doubling was not outside the rules of probability.) And to perform that action hundreds and hundreds of times? That’s call “exploitation,” my friend, and that’s against the User Agreement, the Rules of Conduct, and all that is holy.
I know the OP will disagree. But we’ve been more than kind, in the past, and everyone needs to own up to his/her errors and recognize: We all are part of the game economy, and those who exploit it are hurting the rest of us.
Exploit closed.
Worst offenders terminated.
That’s what has to happen to make things right for all of us.

The bold part is important I think to prevent taking this out of context. If they banned everyone who made a few ectos off this then I would agree that that's harsh. However they only banned those who made significant use of the exploit and made a profit thus messing with the economy.

I wouldn't have perma-banned them though, they really need a better penalty system. First strike is a warning for those who think they're doing no harm, second strike to show they mean business and the third strike you're out.

Seriously? If it breaks the game don't do it. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp people.

#2098542 Dye drop rate now way too low

Oh?  Then why is the drop rate LOWER than before the "bug" that was fixed?  Right....some peeps just like posting crap like "tinfoil silliness".  The drop rate is lower than post release, get over it.

Did you take a sample of the playerbase before and after the update to see if that was true ? Because as far as everyone is concerned dye drops have been irregular since the start. Sometime you are the luckiest player in the world, and other you can go on weeks without finding one.

#22331 Guild Wars 2 based font v1.0

Posted KiyaKoreena on 26 August 2009 - 02:43 AM

>>> FAQ <<<

QUESTION:  Did you make this font by yourself?
ANSWER: The letters A D G I L R S U and W are from the Guild Wars logo, the other letters are ones I based of characteristics of those.

QUESTION: Can I use this for for (insert project name here)?
ANSWER: I made my work available for the community to use, but technically it is a derivative work which Anet would be able to claim the rights to. It would be use at your own risk, they can tell you to stop.

QUESTION:  I am using it in (insert project name here), can/should I pay you a royalty or something?
ANSWER: Nope.
--------------------------------

UPDATED SEPT 7th 2009:  Version 1.1.  Changes include: using the first choice for E F replacement and the third M choice. Assorted tweaks to several other letters to smooth out bumps.

Download Version 1.1

Please note the file name is different than the first version, so if replacing v1.0 you will need to go delete the old one. I'm partial to the old E so have both loaded. :P Once again: This will not overwrite the old font file. Also, I noticed in Photoshop the font seems to look best when set to Strong instead of Normal.

I only did the letters so you will have to use a different font for numbers and special characters but its a start!

Yes, because the stats given by back pieces decide whether or not you can steamroll people. /sarcasm

#2089292 What happened with Tyrian assembly?

Posted sevalaricgirl on 20 November 2012 - 02:02 PM

I love the game, am a staunch supporter and who cares about the Ascended armor.  I think it's really petty to base your opinion of a game around one set of items that may or may not be of use anywhere but a dungeon.  Come on people.  You have no idea if ANet is going to carry this outside the dungeon and put agony in the level 80 PvE areas.  It's for a bloody dungeon that you don't even have to enter.

Tbh I find this whole situation hilarious, to see how the tables turned so much.

It's not that bad people, really! Cheer up.

#2081616 Ascended items appear to require an insane grind...

Posted Kymeric on 15 November 2012 - 10:14 PM

ANet said Ascended are supposed to fill the gape between Exotic and Legendary.

ANet said that they expect people to be getting Legendaries six months to a year into the game.

Exotics can be achieved shortly after hitting 80.

Did anyone expect that Ascended would be achieved quickly?  It's going to have to be grindy to fill that six month gap between Exotics and Legendaries.

This is the problem with trying to satisfy people with endgame carrots to chase.
