#2291256 TESO Beta Key Giveaway

Posted Lurker14ownz on 06 February 2014 - 01:54 AM

I have played three betas now and find the game entertaining like the other Elder Scrolls games but its not worth a sub. If it was B2P like GW2 I would get it and play it occasionally but as it stands...

#2181310 One sentence that defines GW2

GW2 is an opportunity for adventurers to once again journey in the wonder that is Tyria while experiencing stunning artwork, visceral combat, teamwork oriented gameplay, and a continuously evolving story.

#2176820 What's the fastest way to get ascended rings/amulets?

Posted Just Horus on 09 March 2013 - 12:28 AM

Technically the fastest way to get an ascended amulet would be forging the ascended triforge pendant but that is very costly. Beyond that it is only through laurels. You're going to have to become quicker with finishing your dailies/monthlies if you want the ascended amulet. For the dailies you only need to complete 5 of the tasks listed so choose the 5 that are easiest for you to do.

For the rings, it will be much faster to get them via FotM than laurels so try that if you are not aversed to dungeons.

#2169593 I'm trying really hard to like this game

Posted Bloggi on 24 February 2013 - 09:46 AM

Yes I have seen those threads and there are a lot of them here. Individuals are the building blocks of society. In the same manner, individual gamers form a part of the gaming experience. It's like us IRL, walking into a shop selling supplies related to our hobby. There could be 10 customers in there, most of them likely to have the same interest (with the exception of some who may be buying a present for their friends/ family but don't necessarily share the hobby) but none of them are going to talk to each other even if they're standing side by side, unless one of them breaks the ice and initiates a conversation. So as individual gamers, we must open up, if we're expecting some sort of social interaction.

Furthermore, consider that most people playing this game have limited time. Myself as an example, each day after work I barely have time to complete some dailies and map a bit before logging off. I could swear that recently while completing an event with one other person, that gamer was trying to RP with me and I just acted dumb and didn't respond in kind because I had no time. So people may be unintentionally quiet because they just have enough on their plate at that time and more than enough stuff to do, let alone chat with someone.

Anyway, taking a step back for a moment and thinking about it, playing a video game is itself pretty antisocial behavior. If I wanted real social interaction, I'll call a friend and head out to the city for a drink. That's not my cup of tea but I'm sure you get my drift.

Bottomline is, if people want social interaction, do something about it and go out and look for it. Map chat to say an event is up and you're looking for help on it. Post not only once. Post it twice. Three times if you want. At least on the server where I currently reside, if any event is ever dead, I know where to find people. Pop by Divinity's Reach and you'll find individuals or little groups scattered around the place, doing chit-chat and RP. If it's social interaction you want (as far as a game is concerned), there's a big dose of it right there.

At the end of the day, people love things that are brand spanking new, and when the interest wears out they always move on to something else. It doesn't happen only with games. I've seen it happen with fashion, music and even eating places. In each of these instances, the product being discussed did not get worse. The music did not become 'less nice'. The eating place did not start serving up bad food. People simply got tired of it. The issue is with the individual, not the product.

Eventually when I quit GW2, which I will of course, it's because I grew tired of it. It's not that the game was bad.

#2165868 Should the cap have been level 20?

Posted Lordkrall on 18 February 2013 - 11:19 AM

A rather fun thing here is that if they had left it at lvl 20, people would complain about the lack of progression.
No matter what they do there will always be people that don't like it.

I for one don't really care, I did not play to level, I leveled while I played, didn't even think about it most of the time.

#2115183 Wintersday Calendar/Wallpaper

Hey Everyone! I went ahead and made a Wintersday Calendar-Wallpaper, that way it's easy to look up the Times, Dates & Locations for the event. Enjoy! Link: http://i.imgur.com/5Ilty.gif?1  (I also posted this on Reddit: http://redd.it/14nk73)

#2101492 After playing GW2, I decided I'd prefer a sub fee over any cash shop

Posted PinCushion on 29 November 2012 - 07:22 PM

I agree, though...you could just voluntarily pay them $15/month for gems and convert them to gold.

I currently just give them $10/month because farming stuff is boring.  I don't play these games to grind gold, and since my job involves market/pricing work I really don't feel like coming home to do more of it in a game.  I sell my gems, take my 6-10g (depending on the day), and enjoy all the extra time I just bought to WvW or whatever.

I figure in 3-6 months I'll have my legendary, if I decide to craft it, without having to grind my face off for all the T6 mats.  Now, I'll have PAID A-Net about $60 bucks for this convenience.  In my opinion, it's worth it.

Edit: I don't mind this arrangement because it's a $5/mo savings over my other favorite MMO, and it's completely under my control when and if it happens.  I don't expect a good product to be free, but I enjoy the fact that I can skip as many months as I want without any loss of features or function.

#2032929 what do you do when you are about to die in wvwvw ?

Posted Use Your Illusion on 21 October 2012 - 12:32 PM

Hm, it can be a 1v3, 5v20, or whatever, if I know theres a chance, I jump right in the middle of them and start wrecking shit around, it really isn't that hard to break enemy lines, morale is one of the biggest factors on this game. Yesterday we were defending a supply camp with like 5 of our guild against about 20 invaders, and we made them start running, someone asked on TS: "why are they running?", "I dont know, but right now if they turn around they are gonna stomp our asses" They didnt turn.
So ya, don't be afraid of dying man, battles are way more fun when you just go "oh screw it" and jump in there
