Guild Looking for a new Leader - Desolation

15 October 2012 - 08:07 PM

Against A Dark Background [Dark]
A Guild Wars 2 gaming community.

I started this guild a long time friend with aspirations to build one of the largest, most successful guilds on the server. Unfortunately, real world commitments have put me in a potion that leaves me unable to put in the time/effort required to go any further.

As of now, we have 15 members, a well maintained forum, and a 10 man mumble server. We also have a few of the foundation upgrades in game.

My friend is longer able to play, and the other leader and myself are looking to demote ourselves to officer positions if we can find a willing/able player to take the reins.

I'll be fully supporting the guild by continuing to pay for the forum and mumble server, and as the guild grows I'll pay for any upgrades required (expanding slots on mumble, etc..)

What we're looking for a player who would like to work closely with two veteran MMO gamers to create a friendly, interactive, and successful online community. I stress community, we don't want this to become a job for anyone or put any heavy quotas or expectations, we would like a community that is build around camaraderie and social interactions.

Myself and the remaining active leader will create backseat leadership positions for ourselves. the new leader will have full control over who he she promotes and the running of the guild, we'll remain to help support in officer roles and help the community grow.

As of December I'll be hugely active, until then I'll only manage a dew hours an evening. We don't expect the new leader to take on all responsibility themselves, and wil not return to seize control once the guild has been established. We're looking for a lasting relationship with someone who shaes our ideals and can offer the dedication to the role that we cannot currently.

When you use the word 'mob' in the context of gaming, what do YOU mean?

Curious how people in general define the word in the conext.

Example: "dude, lure that mob"

What is the question asking YOU?

Against a Dark Background [Dark] - Desolation [EU] - Recruiting Officers and Members

Against A Dark Background [Dark]
A Guild Wars 2 gaming community.

We have access to mumble and vent servers.

[Dark] is run by two veteran Guild Wars players who share experience managing guilds and helping build gaming communities. Both were guild leaders and officers of successful guilds in large alliances in the original game, and one was a forum mod on guildwarsguru.com. They decided to use their shared experience to create a guild that suited their ideals and playstyles.

[Dark] is currently recruiting players for PvE exploration and events. Once we've built up a solid community we'll put together groups for WvW and consider tPvP if there's enough demand. End game dungeon and event runs will be organised often.

What type of players are we looking for?
All levels of experience, all types of people, as long as you want to help build a friendly and helpful community and don't take yourself too seriously we'd love to have you on board!

We're currently recruiting:

Officer positions will be rewarded to members who put the most effort in to helping us build our fledgling community. Recruit players, help organise events, be a helpful and charming and hilarious person and you'll probably be promoted pretty quickly.

To apply for the guild, fill our the simple recruitment application form. There's no need to register to fill out the form and it's very simple, we would like to make this a guild of quality recruitment over quantity, so instead of spamming towns and adding everyone who replies we'd like to be a little more considerate.

If you'd like to discuss anything, feel free to send a shout to one of us in game:

How much gold do you make at 80? Casual play and farming.

17 September 2012 - 02:50 PM

Not there yet, but I'm looking forward to trying to craft a legendary greatsword or two...

How is the gold return at 80?

How much do you earn casually playing the game?
How much do you earn farming?

How much do you lose via travel and repairs?

IF there's already a thread specific to this, please link.

BF3 Armoured Kill - THAT'S how you optimise an engine!

11 September 2012 - 02:33 PM

Say what you want about DICEA, but Armoured Kill was released today and the performance is blistering. Solid frame rates, absolutely no stutter or lag, aside from a few day one bugs involving destructive environments I'm actually amazed at the quality of the release.

Damn, makes me want to actually play BF3 again!
