#2097440 World hopping makes some servers dead?

Posted ManMadeGod on 26 November 2012 - 11:58 PM

How about cross server LFG message board (like GW1's cross district)?
Since personal story, dungeons are allowed team members from different servers to run.

Credibility got nerfed. with those ranger changes

I will admit they got me. I was expecting some actual fixes, instead...we got that.

Sure they didn't nerf backstab, they simply nerfed S/D thief. Just made a problem even worse, by insuring more thieves go backstab. Was hoping to have more viable builds, not to lower the amount of viable builds by one. On the other hand my warrior is even sexier.

I still wonder why people say that rangers are boring. I'm playing ranger since day 1 and still playing it with passion. I've tried axe/horn, greatsword, short and long bow. All those are pretty balanced and fun. We have no problem to survive/kill mobs. If you use Entangle combine with an axe, you will be able to crowd control 6-7 mobs while your pet will tank most of the damage.

Meh, compared to ele it's just boring. Sit in one place auto attacking and pressing 3 and 5 every so often. Traps for AoE. Maybe it's different for PvP but I can't enjoy it xD

I sent them a message telling them the situation. As much as I wanted to take advantage of this, I figured I didn't pay for the second copy so its practically stealing :P

Thanks for the responses!

Actually no, it's not. THEY sent out two copies, you didn't physically break into their office and take one.
Don't be such a nancy about it. You got two copies, take advantage of that. A-net enjoy screweing people over it seems, so vise-versa is fine.

#2027476 what traps to use?

Why rampager's gear over full carrion or rabid/carrion?

Rampager's trades 91 condition damage (and the vit bonus) for +224 precision, which is roughly +10% crit chance.  Assume you are using a shortbow for the cc, you still have a high rate of attack, reasonable damage, and those crits do matter,  Probably a lot of people have a few traits thrown towards crits as well.

It all comes down to how you play.  I mean, I remember in GW1, trappers ran with staves, but it's not like that anymore, your weapons are still a reasonable component of your damage mix.

FWIW, I use rampagers, but I don't think it's that important.  I'm more concerned with the runes, etc, specificly the condition duration modifiers.

#2017355 what traps to use?

Posted Placebo on 14 October 2012 - 07:35 AM

FIRST of all, if you use traps you'd want 30 in Skirmishing for these 2 major traits :
  • Trapper's Expertise: Trap skills use ground targeting and are 50% larger.
  • Trap Potency: Conditions caused by traps last twice as long and traps recharge 20% faster
when I solo in Orr, by default, I use 2 traps : spike between me and the risen to cripple him, the other one is situational, a matter of taste

when I do dungeons, half of the time, I Crowd Control (CC), so I use the all 4 that are dedicated for this (best example would be CM and its trash mobs):
  • spike (cripple)
  • chill (chill)
  • muddy terrain (immobilize, cripple)
  • entangle (immobilize)
when I feel more like stacking condition damage (rampager armor set is a must; rampager TA armor set is THE must), again I use 4 traps :
  • spike (bleed)
  • flame (burn)
  • viper (poison)
  • entangle (bleed)

#2014661 what traps to use?

Posted ylistra on 12 October 2012 - 11:01 PM

Standard setup for me is Flame Trap and Spike Trap with Trappers Expertise.  Pretty much you setup a Spike trap in front of you, with a Flame trap towards your target and overlapping about 30-50%.

Pull mobs, flame trap goes off, then spike trap keeps them from leaving the area of effect.  Add in a Barrage or Poison Volley for additional effect.

#2008952 How would you improve Guild Wars 2?

Posted matsif on 10 October 2012 - 05:47 PM

my top 10 in no particular order:

1) more weapon skills for more build variety, like each weapon has 10 skills you can pick from, and possibly a few more elites per prof.
2) more elite zones than orr, dungeons, and frostgorge sound
3) change WvWvW so that player skill and tactics would beat the current way its done, "pick a location and zerg it"
4) smaller gap between PS quest levels, or possibly a return to the mission system GW1 had
5) less gold sinks (retraiting and waypoints being my major problems, repairs I can understand)
6) more competitive PvP options like HA and GvG
7) account unlocked dyes
8) a bit more variety in medium armor skins.  I don't mind the trenchcoats, but there are far too many of them
9) separate PvP and PvE skills so that unbalances in PvP don't effect PvE
10) more crafted weapon skin options
