Funny enough I use my guardian for my dailies and if I ever decide to go out and get map completion I'll use it as well. Perma swiftness.
50% boon extension (since we put out so many boons) and staff 3 gives a 3 second window without Swiftness. Trade Symbols Last Longer for -20% Two Hand CDs and it is perma.
As for the Mesmer, Runes of Centaur worked pretty well. Assuming you don't want your runes for something else, and that you're power/crit based.

You mean during the 45 seconds cooldown from rage, the sigil of air won't activate?
Indeed so, the research has been done. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil

Careful about the sigils ICDs, Coren, they prevent other sigils from activating.

Doesn't smoldering only add 10%, and burning/conditions only work on full seconds? Aka 1 second burn, two seconds burn. Not 1.2 seconds.

Even for normal PvE, without champions and bosses, normal mobs will whittle our HP if we are in melee range trading blows. Every second we are with a melee weapon and outside melee is a second we are not using our skills, even our auto-attack.
Without a DPS meter addon we can hardly say which is better in a fight. We can't do like some people do and wailing because a warrior does a big whooping crit and mesmers do not without considering every auto attack hit, phantasm hit and the easily 10 or so bleeds we can stack.
While I can agree that the sword/sword combo ay do more damage individually, does it really do so overall? Trying to snatch a moment to come in and attack, missing auto attack because out of range, dying because of a big hit, etc.
