Hm, looks like Ascended gear is going to affect your time playing the game even LESS. According to the new blog post, you can not only  experience the new dungeon with any gear, you can actually do it at any level.
Literally, the ONLY reason to have the new Ascended gear in PVE is if you are aiming to do dungeon progression in the new dungeon and get really deep.

Can you link that blog post?

They did destroy their "Manifesto" based upon what has been said.

Based upon the current information if you do not get the lucky drop (notice the screenshot - it is soul bound) you will hit a wall where you cannot go further because of agony.  It does not matter how much you grind in other areas, if you do not get that lucky drop you cannot proceed in the new content.

In his post Martin Kerstein stated "Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill."  Yet, if you do not get the lucky drop, no additional content for you, get back on the treadmill. He further stated ". . .will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content."  What does "over time" mean?  Nothing, get back on that treadmill until you get the lucky drop, or new content enabling you to get off the treadmill is added.

As far as what we [the players] can do, nothing more that quit, uninstall and encourage others to do the same.  Hopefully, it isn't this way, or perhaps they will listen.

When or how someone else gets their 50/50 and GWAMM doesn't impact or affect the work I did to earn mine, and it doesn't impact the value I place on my achievements.  Funny thing is, a big reason my 50/50 and GWAMM matter to me is because working towards them became an EXCELLENT bonding experience between me and one of my guildies . . .

Agreed.

I do not care what other think of my GWAMM and 50/50.  I did it because it was a goal I set myself as something I wanted.  I didn't do it to impress others.  I've always considered the subtitle of GWAMM to be "I play GW WAY too much!" but I sitll did it.

Today in LA someone was complaining that people can now "buy" GWAMM and that is why he wouldn't do it.
